He Never Loved Me Until the Day I Finally Left Him novel Chapter 873

In a way, Isla was very much like her.

Except Isla had far more self-respect.

Moreover, Isla's relationship with Julian was entirely different from the toxic nightmare she had shared with Sebastian.

Isla was her own person.

She had been tangled up with him for years.

In fact, their involvement predated her own marriage to him.

By now, Isla's patience and love had likely been ground into dust.

So Isla would walk away.

But Helena had seen the raw devotion in Isla's eyes.

From her perspective, he simply didn't know what he had until he was losing it.

"Julian, I don't want you to wake up one day suffocated by regret," she stated calmly. "She is a genuinely incredible woman. If you let her slip away, you'll never find someone like her again."

"It's not what you think. It's just a casual, mutual arrangement. Nothing more," he argued, frowning deeply.

She didn't raise her voice, just looked at him with quiet clarity.

"Julian, you know as well as I do that we don't belong together," she said gently. "And you aren't as apathetic toward her as you pretend to be, otherwise you wouldn't have kept her around for so long. It's exactly how I used to be with Sebastian, isn't it?"

"Besides, your grandfather has treated Skye and me incredibly well. It's perfectly logical that he disapproves of me. If I were in his shoes, I wouldn't want a woman with my baggage marrying into the family either."

"Julian, let's get a divorce."

She delivered the final blow with unwavering calm.

"What about Skye? If we divorce, are you just going to abandon her?" he countered, using the child as leverage.

"Skye is my daughter, that's an undeniable fact. But you and I both know that I'm in no position to take care of her right now. I'd only be dragging her down into my mess," she analyzed rationally, refusing to act on emotion.

"I told you, Sebastian is already suspicious. After all, Dr. Lynch did the surgery. What happens when he confirms her identity and comes after you for custody?" he pressed. "Are you just going to hand her over on a silver platter?"

"He won't," she stated with absolute certainty.

There wasn't a shadow of a doubt in her voice.
