He Waited She Wilted (Ottilie and Yorath) novel Chapter 121

Marcella smiled graciously. "Your father was Yorath's teacher. I haven't seen him in quite some time; once they arrive, we should all have dinner together."

That evening, news of Nyssa's parents dining with Marcella trended all over social media.

Ottilie even received a text from Nyssa herself.

[Those headlines are just making things up. I'm still just harboring a one-sided crush on Yorath, so please don't misunderstand, Ms. Sewell.]

Ottilie didn't bother replying.

Soren arrived later that night.

Stepping into the living room, he looked at Ottilie. "Mr. Fordham has slipped back into a coma and is in the ICU. You should go see him, Ms. Sewell."

Fresh out of the shower and dressed in her pajamas, Ottilie sat on the couch, eating the fruit cake Yvonne had prepared for her.

She barely reacted to the news.

"The Fordham family has plenty of people standing guard over him. It wouldn't be appropriate for an outsider like me to show up. Besides, they probably still suspect I had something to do with it; it wouldn't be safe for me to go."

Soren gave a stiff nod and saw himself out.

Yvonne sat nearby, cracking nuts for her. From the moment Soren walked in to the second he left, she hadn't even batted an eye.

If she didn't have a heartbeat and a body temperature, Ottilie would genuinely suspect the woman was an AI.

Finishing her cake, Ottilie popped a nut into her mouth and asked nonchalantly.

"Yvonne, do you think your boss is going to die?"

"No."

"You're that sure?"

"Medicine is highly advanced these days. As long as he didn't die on the spot, the Fordhams could drag him back from the gates of hell itself."

Then, he handed the phone to Yvonne.

"Yvonne, step aside. Do not block the head butler's path. The Madam has been incredibly generous to us, so don't break her heart. Forget about you—even Mr. Yorath himself must respect his mother."

"Mom..."

"Don't call me Mom! You think your wings are fully grown now? You think you can defy your elders? Wake up, Yvonne. If the Madam approves of you, you're the boss's right hand. If she doesn't, you're nothing."

Without missing a beat, Tanya spoke to the head butler. "Tobin, if Yvonne insists on defying the Madam's orders, tie her up and bring her back. I'll discipline my daughter myself."

Hanging up, Tanya turned to Marcella. "Madam, this Ottilie is truly a menace. She's got the boss so bewitched that he slapped me hard enough to loosen my teeth."

"Is that true?" Marcella looked at Tanya's face in surprise.

"Yes. It was around the time I requested sick leave. I didn't want to ruin the bond between you and your son, so I figured I'd just swallow the grievance. Who knew Ms. Sewell was so relentless? Now she's making a fool out of him, teaming up with his enemy, Lachlan Schmidt, in an attempt to get him killed."

Marcella's eyes turned icy. "Make the arrangements. Send her out of the country."

Tanya shook her head. "My Madam, you are far too soft-hearted. Sending her abroad just means a plane ticket; Mr. Yorath will just bring her right back. If you don't pull the weed out by the roots, it'll just grow back in the spring! If you ask me, she should end up just like Mandy—only suicide will tie up loose ends."
