On her final morning, she left early, bought a load of groceries, and headed to Yves's apartment.
He was still recovering but doing much better, managing stairs without an issue.
Ottilie stocked his fridge with the groceries. "Cook whatever you want, and when you run out, just order takeout."
"You're treating me so well. I don't even know how to repay you," Yves said, blushing slightly as he looked at his idol.
Ottilie helped him sit down. "You were the one who treated me well first. This is nothing compared to what you did for me."
She patted his leg lightly. "Rest it on my lap. Let me see the injury."
Yves hesitated for a moment before placing his leg on her lap and reaching down to roll up his pant leg.
Ottilie helped him, her fingers accidentally brushing against his skin, causing him to flinch.
"Does it hurt? Did I press on the wound?"
"No, the external wounds have already scabbed over."
"Then it's the bone aching. Let me massage it for you." Ottilie grabbed a bottle of medicinal oil, sprayed it over the tender area, and slowly massaged it in.
Her soft, cool fingertips felt like clear spring water—pure and soothing.
Yves had a physical reaction.
He immediately turned his face away, terrified to look.
He felt like he was desecrating a goddess.
Ottilie told him, "I'm leaving to shoot a show. I might be gone for a month, and I won't have any contact with the outside world."
"What kind of show?"
"I signed an NDA, so I can't give details. All I can say is it's an outdoor survival show."
"Where are you filming? I won't tell anyone. I just want to know where to find you in case something happens."
Yves knew this was her comeback project and how crucial it was.
He was also well aware of how filthy the entertainment industry could be—people resorted to the most despicable tactics to crush their rivals for profit.
Three years ago, Ottilie had been one of those victims.
How could he not worry about a girl like her out there on her own?
"The Patagonian Wilds."
It didn't feel right taking zero pay, so Lachlan had given her a symbolic advance, promising to pay the rest once the show blew up.
Ten thousand an episode. She took thirty thousand in total.
Yves was still worried. "Is that enough?"
"Plenty. I don't buy designer clothes or spend much. I won't pay back the twenty thousand I owe you just yet, though. I'll return it once I make more."
"Alright. But if you need anything, promise me you'll ask."
When Ottilie finally left, Yves leaned on his crutches to walk her all the way downstairs.
"Take care of yourself. I'll be waiting for you."
"I'll be back," she promised, shaking his hand before walking away.
The moment she left, Yorath received a video of their reluctant, emotional goodbye.
The sender was the medical assistant he had hired to look after Yves.
That very night, Yorath returned to the Meridian Villa.
