The inside of the property was pitch black. She rang the doorbell, but there was no response.
She pulled out her phone. The only contact in her directory was Yves. She tried dialing Yorath's number from memory, but failed every time.
At 1:00 AM, Yorath's car finally pulled up.
It stopped right at the main gates. The AI sensors recognized the license plate and automatically opened the garage doors.
But the car didn't move.
Ottilie walked over, and the driver's side window rolled down halfway. Yorath's chiseled features looked as sharp as a blade, his sharp presence exuding a bone-chilling indifference.
"Mr. Fordham, I need to ask you for a favor."
"For your Mr. Walden?" His voice drifted from the car, deep and hollow, sounding incredibly distant yet right next to her.
"You said I could come to you if I ran into difficulties." She kept her head down, still unable to meet his eyes. All she could see was his flawlessly cold jawline and his elegant neck.
"I said you could come to me if you ran into trouble."
"I'll pay your legal fees."
"I'm expensive."
Ottilie had no money. She lowered her gaze to her own body and said, very softly, "I'll make sure you're entirely satisfied tonight."
The two of them walked to the front door. She took the lead, then turned back to him. "I don't know the password."
"It's my birthday."
"I forgot it."
He gave her a long look before stepping forward and punching in the code.
Once inside, he took off his jacket and hung it in the cloakroom by the entryway. He changed his shoes and rolled up his sleeves. "What do you want to eat?"
"Anything is fine. Let me cook." She bypassed the entryway and walked into the living room.
The interior featured a sophisticated Neoclassical style—understated, elegant, and full of depth. It was exactly the aesthetic Nyssa loved.
Standing right behind her, Yorath said, "Three years ago, I brought someone in to check the spiritual balance of the house. They made some suggestions, so I had it remodeled like this."
While he washed the dishes, she headed straight for the master bedroom. The place she had lived in for years was completely unrecognizable, completely wiped of any trace she had ever been there.
The only thing that caught her eye was the collection of solar system crystal globes lining the nightstand.
After showering, she stepped out wrapped in a towel, only to find Yorath already in the room. He had changed into a tailored suit and tie, smelling of fresh soap from a shower.
She walked right up to him, leaning intimately against his chest as she stood on her tiptoes to undo his tie. The stitching on the back of the silk fabric was crooked and slightly familiar, but she couldn't quite remember where she had seen it before.
She wrapped the tie around her wrists and used her teeth to pull it into a tight knot.
"Is this how you like to play now?" he murmured, watching as the towel slipped from her body and pooled on the floor.
The air filled with an intoxicatingly sweet, poppy-like feminine scent.
Ottilie smiled faintly. "It's better if I'm tied up. I'm afraid I might struggle later and accidentally hurt you."
She crawled onto the bed and buried her face into the pillows, treating herself like a lifeless corpse.
"Even if I pass out, you can keep going."
