He Waited She Wilted (Ottilie and Yorath) novel Chapter 154

The rainy season dragged on relentlessly this year.

It poured heavily for an entire week.

The mountain terrain was treacherous, and the search and rescue teams scoured the perimeter of the landslide every single day.

They were praying for a miracle.

Days bled into one another, yielding absolutely nothing.

With so much time passed since Ottilie went missing, everyone silently acknowledged the grim reality: she was buried deep underneath.

If she were still alive, a grid search this intensive would have found her by now.

But no one dared to say the words out loud.

Yorath was already injured, and the damp, freezing conditions of the forest severely hindered his recovery.

His low-grade fever had spiked into a dangerous, burning high temperature.

His cough was violently worsening.

Coupled with the lingering effects of the concussion from his recent car crash, his health was deteriorating rapidly. He had lost significant weight.

Elian had pulled Jevon aside multiple times.

"You need to talk some sense into him. He has to go back to the hospital. If he keeps pushing his body like this, I'm terrified he's going to suffer permanent damage."

Jevon aggressively stomped his foot. "How the hell am I supposed to talk to him right now?"

"Nyssa should be arriving today," Elian said with a sigh. "We'll let her try."

Right on cue, a commotion broke out near the camp entrance.

The two men turned to see Nyssa walking in, flanked by a small army of assistants, managers, and bodyguards.

Her breathtaking beauty instantly captivated the tired crew.

Nyssa personally carried a large tote bag, handing out small care packages to every person she passed.

Inside were basic first-aid supplies, chocolates, and energy bars.

The crew was overwhelmed with gratitude, praising her for being as kind-hearted as she was beautiful.

Jevon rushed over to her side, only feeling relieved when he saw she was fully covered in a high-grade raincoat.

"No matter how busy I am, I had to come see you. Mrs. Fordham is incredibly worried, and I'm terrified your condition is getting worse."

Yorath finished mapping out the next day's search grid, dropped the pen, and finally looked at her.

"You have a weak constitution. It's not safe for you here. I'll have Jevon take you back this afternoon."

"Alright," Nyssa agreed softly, opening the container.

"I borrowed a kitchen from one of the locals down the mountain to make this Herbal Chicken Consommé. I bought the chicken from them, too. You need to drink a little so you have the strength to find Ms. Sewell."

She poured a serving into a small porcelain bowl and handed it to him.

Yorath took it and drank it in silence.

"I brought a private chef with me," Nyssa added. "And a few live chickens for Ms. Sewell. She's been trapped out here for so long, she must be exhausted. As soon as you find her, the chef can make her something to help her recover her strength."

Yorath nodded slightly. "That was very thoughtful of you."

Nyssa offered a bitter smile. "To be completely honest, while I respect Ms. Sewell, I'm not a saint. I didn't do this out of the goodness of my heart for a rival. I did it for you. Your grief is my grief, and your joy is my joy."

"You don't need to force yourself to like her," Yorath said plainly.
