He Waited She Wilted (Ottilie and Yorath) novel Chapter 181

Ottilie laughed, her shoulders shaking so hard that tears sprang to her eyes.

"Flattery will get you nowhere, Yvonne. If you're trying to climb the ladder in the Fordham family, you've backed the wrong horse. I can't even play the role of Yorath's lover properly; getting kicked to the curb is only a matter of time."

Ottilie stood up, walked into the dining room, and pointed at the villa's front doors.

"Look at those doors. When I was thrown out back then, I was like a stray dog, scrambling to pick up my things from the dirt. Your mother and the bodyguards stood behind those floor-to-ceiling windows, just watching me. I will never forget the look in their eyes for as long as I live."

Looking back now, when had Yorath ever truly loved her!

She was nothing but a plaything kept around with his money. Where on earth had she ever felt 'love' in any of it?

Ottilie was already counting down the days in her head.

She couldn't satisfy him anymore, and with his impending marriage, he would naturally have to keep his distance.

It was high time for the mistresses he kept on the side to be dealt with.

Whoever Yorath took a liking to in the future, he could just buy their affection all over again.

Thinking of it this way made Ottilie feel significantly better.

Her only regret was that, even now, she still hadn't managed to find any concrete evidence of his crimes.

Otherwise, she would have made sure he ended up exactly where she had been locked away.

When she finally walked away, even if she couldn't end him, she was going to make sure he paid a bloody price.

Yvonne didn't say a word, simply standing quietly to the side and watching her.

Realizing she had lost her composure, Ottilie smiled faintly. "I take back what I said earlier."

"Ms. Sewell, this is your home," Yvonne replied smoothly. "You are free to speak your mind."

Ottilie nodded and turned to head back to her room.

She had been suffering from insomnia for the past two days.

She couldn't sleep, day or night.

Rummaging through her nightstand, she pulled out a voice recorder. Over and over, she listened to the audio of Yorath buying off her family to testify that she was severely mentally ill.

Ottilie dialed her attending psychiatrist.

"Dr. Thorne, my condition is perfectly under control, and my emotions are stable. Even when I had two episodes, I didn't hurt anyone."

He knew better than anyone exactly how Ottilie had managed to get discharged.

If they didn't run now, they never would.

He deeply regretted ever getting involved in this catastrophic mess.

After hanging up, Ottilie finally felt her mind settle.

Yorath was getting married. It was time to put her cards on the table.

She made a call to Lachlan Schmidt.

"Yorath is getting married. I'm going to confront him and sever all ties. Do you want to add some fuel to the fire?"

"Of course," Lachlan replied. "Wait for my good news."

Hanging up the phone, Lachlan turned to Justina. "Release the blackmail material we prepared. Since Ottilie chose to sign with me, we can't let her think we're incompetent or unable to secure her footing in the entertainment industry."

"Isn't that a bit too ruthless?" Justina hesitated.

Lachlan sneered. "Everyone in the Fordham family must pay the price for Mandy's death. Isn't it perfectly natural for one or two of them to burn in the process?"
