He Waited She Wilted (Ottilie and Yorath) novel Chapter 213

While Yorath washed the dishes, Jevon stood nearby with a mug of coffee, chatting with him.

"Nyssa called earlier. She said Huxley is investing in a movie that needs a female action star. They want Ottilie for the role. I was told to run it by you."

"No. From now on, I personally review every single project Ottilie takes on. Keep irrelevant people far away from her."

Given past disasters, Yorath was determined to strictly vet anyone who came near her.

"Got it. I'll let her know," Jevon replied.

"Nyssa has three years left on her contract. Where is her head at these days?"

"Who knows? I didn't ask." Jevon shrugged, completely indifferent.

With a soft click, the master bedroom door swung open.

Major let out a soft whine, staring longingly at Ottilie but too afraid to approach.

She walked out into the living area, noticing the men gathered there, and offered a polite smile. "Hello, everyone."

Jevon stepped out of the kitchen. "Good thing you had the sense not to actually hurt him. If you'd caused him any real harm, no one would have been able to protect you."

Ottilie knew he must be referring to whatever had happened during her blackout.

She had zero interest in engaging with him, turning her attention to play with Major instead.

The golden retriever happily licked the back of her hand.

Seeing her dismissive attitude, Jevon was thoroughly annoyed. "You really are heartless. You never remember the good things people do for you, but the second someone crosses you, you hold a grudge for a lifetime."

Ottilie acted as if she hadn't heard a word.

His frustration only grew.

"Think about it! Three years ago, they had crystal-clear, high-definition video of you setting that fire and blinding Nyssa. They had witnesses, and you had absolutely zero evidence to defend yourself. Even God couldn't have saved you! If he hadn't stepped in, you'd have been killed in prison by now! He sacrificed his entire political career to keep you safe, and you repay him with hatred? You're an ungrateful, venomous snake!"

"I also want full copyright ownership of the wilderness survival show. If my career in the entertainment industry goes smoothly, Quentin stays safe. If it doesn't... well, I can't guarantee his safety."

When she went to The Empyrean to find Yorath last time, this was exactly what she wanted to negotiate.

Unfortunately, she hadn't managed to see him, or none of the recent drama would have unfolded.

"Tilly, you're threatening me," Yorath noted calmly.

"No, I'm begging you to let me go," she said, deliberately softening her tone.

She was acutely aware that until she amassed enough power, clashing directly with him was suicide.

If she tried, she would be completely obliterated before she even got off the ground.

And then there would be no revenge.
