He Waited She Wilted (Ottilie and Yorath) novel Chapter 244

The Hospital.

Inside a top-tier VIP suite.

Yorath lay in the hospital bed, his face ashen, his chest wrapped thickly in gauze. His breathing was incredibly shallow.

Jevon stood by the bed for a moment before turning and walking through the adjoining sitting room to open the main door.

Nyssa stood in the hallway, her eyes rimmed with red. "Is he awake?"

"Not yet," Jevon replied distractedly, a flicker of impatience crossing his eyes.

Nyssa noticed but pretended she hadn't.

"Even though it didn't pierce his heart, such a huge shard of glass went right into him! How brutal. Anyone with an ounce of common sense knows you don't pull out the object after a puncture wound. But Ottilie did. She wanted him to bleed out. She wanted him dead! How could she be so ruthless?"

She let a few tears spill down her cheeks.

"It's just like when she went crazy on set years ago. She didn't ask questions, she didn't listen to our explanations... she just attacked us for no reason... Mr. Walden died, Heath's leg was shattered, and I lost an eye forever..."

She covered her eyes, sobbing. "I could accept her being cruel to us, but how could she do this to Yorath?"

Before Jevon could even respond, an angry voice echoed down the hall.

"That woman is going to get my son killed!"

Marcella marched toward them, a team of bodyguards trailing behind her.

Jevon hurried forward to intercept her. "Mrs. Fordham, what are you doing here?"

Marcella looked at him, her eyes bright with angry tears. "Let me ask you something, Jevon. Did I or did I not risk my life to give birth to Yorath and raise him?"

"You did."

"Then do I, as his mother, have the right to know when my son is lying on his deathbed?"

"You're still defending her!" Marcella shook with rage, jabbing a manicured finger at Jevon's forehead.

Her snowy white fingers made her burgundy nail polish look incredibly elegant.

Pale, frail, but undeniably beautiful.

She looked like a wilting flower, fragile enough to be blown away by a gust of wind.

Jevon couldn't bear it. Terrified that he might literally anger her to death, he quickly changed his tune.

"I've already sent people to hunt her down. Don't worry. Once we catch her, we're handing her straight over to the police to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law."

"None of you are to interfere in this," Marcella snapped. "I am going to handle Ottilie myself before Yorath even wakes up. You don't have to tell me—I already know she was taken away by Yvonne."

Jevon wasn't the least bit surprised that she knew.

Marcella was Magnus Harrington's only daughter. If she asked the Harrington family for information, no one would dare hide a thing.
