He Waited She Wilted (Ottilie and Yorath) novel Chapter 250

Yorath was already bracing himself for her refusal, mentally preparing his next ultimatum.

Instead, she looked at him and repeated, "I swear, if I harbor any romantic feelings for Yves, or ever wish to marry him, he will lose his entire future and die a gruesome death."

All his burning fury evaporated the moment she finally gave in.

Looking at this flawless, porcelain-skinned girl sitting before him, he simply couldn't hold on to his anger.

Now that his rival had been dealt with, he relaxed back against the plush pillows, regaining the effortless, aristocratic aura he always wore.

He simply watched her in quiet satisfaction.

"Now that the issue with Yves is settled," Yorath murmured, "let's discuss our future."

Before she had arrived, Soren had given her the document outlining everything.

She was prepared.

So when Yorath brought it up, she managed to maintain her composure.

"You stabbed me," he continued smoothly. "As compensation, you're going to marry me. We settle this privately, and the slate is wiped clean."

She didn't want to marry him.

Her hands were clasped tightly in her lap, gripping and releasing as a chaotic war raged inside her head.

Yorath watched her inner turmoil with an air of relaxed amusement.

He thought he possessed infinite patience when it came to her.

But knowing she was finally, inescapably about to become his wife, his self-control began to fray.

"If you aren't willing, I'd never dare force you." He reached slowly for the phone on the nightstand.

"Who are you calling now?" she blurted out. "We had a deal. You leave everyone else out of this."

"I was merely going to ask for a glass of water."

Realizing she had jumped to conclusions, she bit her lip and lowered her head in silence.

Seeing her act like a child caught misbehaving—so infuriatingly docile—made his heart twist with an intense, protective affection.

He picked up the phone and casually spun it in his hand.

She looked up at him, her eyes red, terrified he would dial the police to arrest Yves.

He nodded in satisfaction. "I have the security footage of you stabbing me. Don't even think about crossing me, or running off with someone else after we're married."

"If you trust me so little, why bother marrying me at all?" she retorted.

"Oh, I trust you completely."

It was the man waiting outside he didn't trust.

She nodded. "Since there's so much trust between us, we're signing a prenuptial agreement. That way, when we inevitably divorce, we won't be tied up in property disputes for years."

For a split second, Yorath literally stopped breathing out of pure rage.

They weren't even married yet, and she was already planning the divorce!

"Agreed."

At this point, as long as she wasn't hell-bent on running off with Yves, everything else was negotiable.

Within minutes, the most important commitment of their lives was finalized.

"Now that we are a single entity with aligned interests," Yorath said smoothly, "the internal conflicts are settled. Let's move on to the external ones."
