He Waited She Wilted (Ottilie and Yorath) novel Chapter 287

Nyssa stood up and flashed a smile at the room. "Mr. Heath has trouble walking. I'll just help him to the door."

The two of them followed Yorath out of the Glass Pavilion.

Seeing the lecherous way Heath looked at Nyssa, Shawn immediately worried she might be taken advantage of and stood up to trail behind them.

The adjacent tea room was heavily soundproofed. Once the door clicked shut, not a single noise from outside bled in.

Yorath took the seat of honor and didn't offer either of them a chair.

Refusing to stand like a subordinate while being spoken to, Heath dropped into the chair directly opposite Yorath.

Nyssa hesitated for exactly two seconds before choosing to sit next to Heath.

Yorath glanced at her. "Did you come to negotiate with me as a pair?"

She offered a bitter smile. "I'm not here to negotiate. I'm here to beg. Now that Ottilie is back, she hates me. Staying with your company offers me no future. Please, show some mercy and let me go."

"Ottilie is Ottilie, and you are you," he replied coolly. "The company is big enough to accommodate one actress. Whatever resources are yours, you'll get them."

Phrased like that, she had no argument to fire back with.

Heath rested his chin on his hand, watching the exchange.

Two sentences, and Yorath had completely shut her down.

How useless.

But useless people were the easiest to manipulate once you got them in your grip.

Unlike Hayden Hadley—incompetent, yet obsessed with playing games.

He ended up ruining his own reputation and dragged Aegis Media down with him.

"Ms. Tarrant simply no longer wishes to collaborate," Heath interjected. "She wants to terminate the contract. For the sake of your past relationship, Mr. Fordham, surely you can bend the rules a little."

Yorath's face remained blank. "I've already had Soren go over the terms. The twenty-billion penalty. The moment the funds hit the account, she is free to leave."

"I loved you, and this is what it amounts to? You are so heartless."

Yorath was completely unmoved by her emotional display. "I can give you one chance. Confess the truth about how Ottilie was set up three years ago, and I'll sign your release papers immediately."

The tears in Nyssa's eyes abruptly stopped falling, her heart skipping a beat in sheer terror.

He *was* digging into Ottilie's case from three years ago.

She looked up, her eyes red and puffy.

"I've said it countless times. Three years ago, Ottilie went crazy and couldn't distinguish reality from acting. What do you want me, the victim who lost an eye, to confess? That I was the perpetrator? You're a lawyer. You can't just make baseless accusations without evidence."

"Then there's nothing to discuss," Yorath said dismissively, calling out to the door. "Yvonne, see the guest out."

The door opened, and Yvonne walked in with the security detail.

Heath spoke up, his tone unhurried. "No need to rush. I have some very interesting things I haven't shown Mr. Fordham yet. Back when Ms. Sewell was receiving treatment at St. Dymphna's, there were some truly fascinating moments captured. I have the original video files. Doesn't Mr. Fordham want them?"
