"Okay, thank you."
Winona thanked him politely and pushed the door open to step out.
Because it was a massive brawl, the small precinct was packed with parents. Following an officer, Winona took a look inside the holding cell.
Crouched in the corner was a group of kids with wildly dyed hair looking like colorful feather dusters, all sporting bruised and swollen faces like they'd just come out of a warzone.
Seth's bright blonde hair was impossible to miss, and his face was the cleanest of the bunch, save for a small bruise just under his eye. He was sprawled over a chair, clutching a black pen, scratching his head as he struggled to write an apology letter.
The officer, who looked quite young, asked Winona, "Is that your brother?"
"Yes."
"He's a regular here. You need to keep a closer eye on him."
"I know, I know."
Winona quickly agreed, entirely dropping her usual arrogant demeanor. Her beautiful face looked remarkably innocent and sweet.
Caleb Foster scratched his head, painstakingly squeezing out a single sentence. His handwriting was atrocious, looking like centipedes crawling across the page.
Having finally managed to complete a thought, Caleb breathed a sigh of relief and glanced up to see if Jupiter had arrived yet.
Instead, he spotted a familiar face.
Winona was nodding along to whatever the officer beside her was saying. Her light blue jeans highlighted her long, straight legs, and her loose white T-shirt hung off her frame, perfectly accentuating her delicate collarbones.
Caleb tugged at Seth's arm.
Caught off guard, Seth jerked sideways, and the pen in his hand dragged a long line across the paper.
"Shit," he cursed, glaring impatiently at Caleb. "Are you crazy?"
Caleb pointed his chin in Winona's direction. "Look who's here."
Unbothered, Seth lifted his gaze and looked over, instantly freezing in place.
He quickly looked back down, resuming his rambling apology letter.
