Chapter 187 The Truth About Gilbert

But Julia’s ambition went way beyond that.

But she had the skills to pull it all off.

What did Sherry have going for her?

Even if someone handed her a company today, it would go under in a few days flat.

Sherry should have gotten it by now. She was just a regular girl, trying to play like she was somebody.

Gilbert was worried Sherry wouldn’t let it go, so he kept going. “And Angel Shop-you know what that means? No matter who you are, what your status is, guy or girl, if you wanna be in this circle, you gotta wear Angel. No exceptions.

“Let me break it down for you. Other brands that try to go up against Angel? Their dresses are just for celebrities to strut in on the runway. They’re not even in the same ballpark as our

crowd!

“Angel only makes clothes for the top tier. Offend this brand, and you’ll be known for all the wrong reasons around here. You’ll never wear their stuff again-and that means you’ll never have the right outfit for these events.”

Gilbert rambled on like he had all the answers.

He even looked proud-like Julia made him look good, like he was honored to be on her side.

Sherry yanked her hand out of Gilbert’s grip. “Didn’t you say you knew nothing about clothing brands before? Didn’t you say brand clothes were just a girl thing, that guys would never bother with that stuff?”

Now he was talking like an expert. He could probably recite the brand’s whole history if someone asked.

Once, she’d just wanted him to recommend one dress brand. If he knew all this, why didn’t he tell her back then?

Either Gilbert really didn’t know before-Scott handled almost all his personal stuff, after all.

The only reason he knew so much now was because this was Julia’s business.

He was practically hyping Angel up like it was the greatest brand on earth.

Gilbert frowned a little. “Why are we bringing up the past for no reason? It’s because Julia’s capable. Because of her, I get why this matters now.

“Is that the same as you, who only knows how to spend money on clothes and junk? Even when she goes shopping, she’s using her head-thinking about how to make money and what’s trending right now!

“You’re nobody, but you still insist on measuring up to her.”

Gilbert sounded so annoyed, like Sherry’s question was the dumbest thing he’d ever heard.

Sherry finally got it.

If you don’t have any skills, even if you’re right, people will find a way to shut you

If you can’t bring anything to the table, everything you do is wrong.

down.

All I ever want is just to wear the right outfit, that’s it. He could just ask Scott, and it’d make all the difference.

It’s so obvious. Gilbert won’t even bother with this because I embarrassed him.

If she made him look bad, she wasn’t worth his time. If Gilbert had given her even one dress, she wouldn’t be in this mess!

But Gilbert would never admit he was wrong.

Even as his wife, she couldn’t get any special treatment.

But because Julia was powerful, even if she wasn’t his wife, Gilbert sang her praises nonstop. He was willing to learn everything about her world.

Sherry let out a mocking laugh. She couldn’t believe she’d been so blind to what kind of guy

Gilbert was.

No wonder he’d grown more and more impatient with her.

“If your perfect Julia’s back, why are you dragging me away?” Sherry sneered. “Just marry her and call it a day. Did she turn you down? And she’s chasing after other guys?”

That crossed the line with Gilbert.
