Chapter 20 Cleaning House
Cathy let out a sharp scream.
In the end, Sherry simply kicked her out of the room.
Cathy wanted to charge right back in.
She’d never been treated like this before. But one look at Sherry’s cold, intimidating face-
It reminded her exactly of Gilbert. One glare from him was always enough to make her shut up and shrink
away.
Cathy headed toward her own room. Not that she was scared or anything. She was just tired and wanted to put her luggage away.
She stepped inside, then immediately came back out to check the hallway, making absolutely sure it was her room.
“Sherry! What did you do? Where are all my things? What have you done to my room?!”
The entire room was empty. Even the mattress and bed frame were gone. It looked like a completely new, unfurnished space.
To stop Cathy from screaming again in that awful, screeching voice, Sherry stepped out and leaned against the doorframe. “I threw everything out.”
Cathy put her hands on her hips. “Who do you think you are, throwing my stuff away? Do you want me to tell Gilbert so he kicks you out? Do you even know whose house this is? What right do you have to decide anything? You’re just a useless housewife.”
Still using the same old threats?
Before, she might have worried it would damage their relationship. Now, she only wished she’d done this
sooner.
“Keep dreaming. Even if we divorce, this house gets split fifty-fifty. Kick me out? Fine-you can give me half the company too.”
She used to think she’d pay any price just to get divorced. She’d even considered leaving without a single
cent.
Anything connected to Gilbert made her sick-including his money. She thought it was dirty.
Looking back now, she must have been crazy to think that. Money mattered. It mattered a lot.
Now, if she didn’t get her fair share, there would be no deal.
Cathy’s hands trembled with anger. “Stop pretending. You just want me gone, right? You think I want to see your face? I’ll leave right now.

Chapter 20 Cleaning House
“When Gilbert comes back, let’s see how you explain this! I’ll make you beg me to come back!”
She stormed off, dragging her suitcase behind her.
Mary asked calmly, “Miss, what should I do with the fried chicken?”
“Feed it to the dog.
Cathy heard that and putted up like an angry bullfrog.
No, she couldn’t wait until tonight to complain to Gilbert.
Since when did someone she used to look down on dare to fight back? She couldn’t accept it!
She was allowed to bully Sherry, but Sherry wasn’t allowed to bully her.
It wasn’t like she was being unfair-it was just their difference in status. And that made her right.
She called Gilbert but no one answered.
She tried several more times.
Finally, she ran out of energy.

Standing there holding her suitcase, unsure what to do, she suddenly remembered someone. She pulled out her phone and made a call.
Sherry had been reading countless articles on her laptop, catching up on job market trends.
Just as she was about to have dinner, the front door was kicked open with a loud bang.
Cathy marched in, chin up and chest out, full of confidence.
Acting as if nothing had happened, she tidied up her belongings and sat down to eat.
She sat like a princess and started ordering Mary around to serve her.
Cathy looked at Sherry. “Well? Surprised? I didn’t fall for your trick and leave.”
“Kick you out-why would I need a trick?”
Cathy shot Sherry a nasty look. “Stop pretending. You want me gone so you can be all lovey-dovey with Gilbert, and then have a baby to tie him down forever. You’re so sneaky.
“Good thing someone warned me—”
She suddenly stopped herself.
“I always knew you were scheming. No one is selfless without a reason. You have your own plans. You want
