Chapter 190
Lydia snapped back to her senses and took a step back. This mission is actually a whole amusement park, just like the ones from back in the peaceful days.”
Sergei was the oldest. He had gone to amusement parks with his parents, then a girlfriend, then his wife and kids, so hejd tried most attractions. But the rule said everyone had to join at least one. ‘Did it mean these rides?’
There was no way this amusement park in the mission was just like the real thing. ‘So where was the trap?’ Sergei wondered
Lyra looked around, but couldn’t see any sign of a soul in these people, which meant they definitely weren’t Hunters.
Then who were they?’ Lyra wondered.
Lyra and the others stood at the entrance of the amusement park, with more people trickling in behind them.
“What the hell is this place?” someone muttered.
“There are so many people here. Are the Hunters hiding among them?” another person asked.
“Why does this feel so different from the other missions?” someone else asked.
“Hey, don’t push!” someone shouted.
Just as a blond player stepped through the entrance, a kid dashed past and bumped into him, smearing sticky cotton candy all over his sleeve.
The blond player reached out, about to shove the kid, but a man quickly stepped in front of the child and snapped. “What’s wrong with you? Picking on a kid?”
The blond player froze, glancing from the man to the child. He remembered this was a mission and forced himself to keep
his cool.
The other players went quiet for a moment, afraid the father and son might suddenly go berserk and start killing people. Luckily, the man just grumbled under his breath as he dragged the kid away.
Lil Lily leaned in close to Lyra, whispering, “Goddess Lyra, they can actually see us.”
Before Lyra could say anything, a man carrying a bucket of popcorn walked by, holding a girl’s hand.
His shoulder bumped into Lina, and she instinctively stepped aside, a few pieces of popcorn spilling at her feet.
The man turned around and glared at her. “Watch where you’re going!”
The girl next to him gave him a playful punch and smiled at Lina. “Sorry about that. He wasn’t looking where he was going.”
Lina took a step back, waving her hands. “No worries, no worries.” Just go already. As long as you don’t suddenly mutate and start killing people, I’m good,’ she thought.
The man rubbed his shoulder where the girl had playfully punched him, gave her an exaggerated eye roll, and walked off
with her.
“They can see us, and we can touch them,” Sergei muttered. “This is way too real.”
Lydia, slinging her hammer over her shoulder, watched the man walk away. “Is he a Wraith?”
“Nope.” Lyra replied, scanning the crowd. “No soul stuffed inside him.”

Lil Lily shrank back. “Then what are they? Are they real people, just like us?”
Lyra didn’t answer right away.
55 VOUET
The amusement park was buzzing with activity. Ticket sellers waved their clipboards, calling out for the next group. Vendors handed out hot dogs to eager visitors, and kids dashed across the stone paths, their shoes thudding against the ground.
Everything felt real, you could touch things, chat with people, and there wasn’t the slightest sign that this was a Wraith mission.
Lydia tugged at her gloves. “Let’s find somewhere to talk. We’re way too exposed here at the entrance.”
Lyra nodded. “Let’s head over to the rest area.”
The five of them made their way inside.
Lil Lily stuck close to Lyra, but her eyes kept sneaking glances at the carousel.
The carousel horses bobbed up and down, bulbs lighting up all around the canopy. Kids in line clapped and shouted, “I want the pink horse!”
Lil Lily bit her lip. “Goddess Lyra, looks like we can actually go on these rides.”
Lyra glanced at her. “You wanna give it a shot?”
Lil Lily shook her head immediately. “Nope, just scoping things out.”
Lina laughed. “Looks like all your recon is just about the attractions.”
Lil Lily whispered back, “Hey, the rules say we gotta try at least one, so I’m just checking things out ahead of time, call it tactical prep.
Lydia scanned the area. “I say we pick the one that’s easiest to bail out of.”
Sergei pointed to a spot nearby. “How about the bumper cars? The area’s small, and we can see the exit.”
Lyra shook her head. “Bumper cars mean you’re gonna get hit. What if it suddenly turns into some bloodbath? We can’t let this peaceful vibe fool us.”
With that, she glanced over at the map board standing by the flower bed, which showed the whole layout of the park.
There was an Adventure Area with a carousel, bumper cars, haunted house, pirate ship, drop tower, and a mirror maze.
There was a Chill Zone with a fairy tale village, family farm, and water park.
There was a Snack Area loaded with all kinds of treats.
And way in the back, hidden from view, was the Masquerade Theater.
When Lyra spotted “Masquerade Theater” on the map, her brows furrowed.
“The mission is called Masquerade Park,” she said. “Let’s flag the Masquerade Theater, it could be the main zone,”
Lina followed her gaze. “The theater runs four shows a day. The next one’s at 2:30.”
Sergei glanced at his watch. “We’ve got thirty minutes to lay low. At 2:30, the Hunters start hunting”
Lil Lily looked up. “So the show and the hunt kick off together.”

Lydia muttered. “Figures the game would time it like that.”
Lyra looked away. “Let’s head to the rest area.”
H 55 VONADE
The rest area was off to the side of the square, with a few benches and a vending machine nearby.
Some visitors were sitting there, sipping drinks, and an old man was cradling his grandson, helping him drink/some water.
Lyra picked a spot near the edge, and the five of them stood in a half-circle. They didn’t sit down since the benches were already taken.
Lil Lily glanced at the old man, then back at Lyra. “Goddess Lyra, do you think they can hear us?”
Lyra looked over at the old man, who was busy twisting the cap off a bottle while the kid reached up to grab his hat.
Lyra spoke up. “Masquerade Park.”
The old man didn’t react.
Lyra tried again, “Hunters.”
Still nothing.
Just then, a balloon vendor walked by, caught what they were saying, stopped and looked at Lyra.
The five of them tensed up at once.
The balloon vendor grinned. “Hey, miss, want a balloon? Get one for the kid.”
Lil Lily pointed at herself. “Me? The kid?”
