Hide and Seek: The Mad Girl Sees All novel Chapter 189

Chapter 189

At 1:55 PM, Lyra and Lil Lily walked into the Monitoring Room.

Lana reminded them, “Come back alive.”

Lyra grinned. “You got it!”

Lil Lily quickly added, “We’ll be back!”

When the clock struck 2 PM, a bright flash filled the room, and the two of them vanished from the Monitoring Room.

When Lyra landed, her feet hit a hard stone floor.

Her first instinct was to reach out for Lil Lily.

Lil Lily was right beside her, reaching out for her as well.

Their hands locked together, and Lil Lily let out a sigh of relief. She said, “Goddess Lyra, we’re in!”

Lyra nodded and glanced around. The other players were scattered about, some muttering curses, others checking their gear, and a few just watching everyone else.

Fifty people didn’t make the mission entrance feel crowded at all.

Lyra’s gaze swept over the crowd.

Ron was off to the left, Sophia was further away, and Hania was standing at the edge of the group.

Alex was there too, dressed in a black coat, his face pale, and wearing a pair of gray short boots, probably the Phantom Boots.

When Lyra looked over, Alex looked up at her too.

Their eyes met, and Alex raised his hand, making a quick slashing motion across his throat.

Lil Lily clutched her Warning Hairpin and puffed out her cheeks. “He’s trying to kill me again!”

Lyra held Lil Lily’s hand down. “Ignore him. Let’s listen to the rules first.”

The system broadcast kicked in.

[Welcome to the 49th round of Global Hide-and-Seek.]

[All participants are ready.]

[This round’s mission: Level 2, Masquerade Park.]

Lil Lily looked up. “A park? Is the game actually being nice for once?”

Lyra snorted. “If it were, I’d hand Wraithslayer over as a thank-you plaque.”

Lil Lily asked, “What would the plaque say?”

“Helping People Die,” Lyra replied.

Lil Lily almost burst out laughing, but quickly covered her mouth.

Chapter 189

“Lyra.” Lina called.

Lina’s voice rang out from the other side of the crowd.

Lyra turned and saw Lina running over, waving her arms.

“Lyra! Lil Lily!” Lina called.

Lina rushed over and stopped in front of them, looking first at Lyra, then at Lil Lily. “Are you guys okay?”

Lil Lily blinked. “We just got here. What could’ve happened?”

Lina said seriously, “I’m talking about the real world here. I heard you two scoped out pretty much every/Invasion Zone

“We’re fine. We just stayed on the edges,” Lyra said, glancing behind her. “Where are Lydia and Sergei?”

“Here we are,” Lydia called out.

Lydia walked over with the Stellar Hammer resting on her shoulder and the Shadowcleaver at her waist. She just stood there, and the players nearby instinctively stepped back.

Sergei followed right behind her, holding his weapon.

“Lyra, Lydia called out, “Man, this Vital Flame Cultivation is killing me. It’s so tough!”

“Seriously.” Sergei groaned. “Maybe I’m just too dumb for this.”

Listening to Lydia and Sergei vent, Lina, who’d already mastered gathering her flames, couldn’t help but snicker quietly.

Lydia slumped her shoulders and shot Lina a look. “Lina, you know, you could laugh a little louder if you want.”

“Honestly, it’s not that hard for me,” Lina replied, laughing awkwardly.

Lyra gave a helpless smile. “Alright, cut the chatter and listen up, these rules matter. The game’s getting more and more shameless with its tricks.”

The system broadcast continued.

[The rules for this round have changed.]

Everyone immediately fell silent.

[1. All item chests have already been placed in the mission. No more will spawn.]

[2. Before the game ends, each player must take part in at least one park attraction. Otherwise, they die.]

The crowd instantly erupted.

“Park activities? What kind of stuff are we supposed to do? Which park is this supposed to be?”

“An amusement park? Are they seriously making us ride roller coasters or something? Or is it some kind of fairy-tale village?”

“You just know these activities are full of traps!”

Lil Lily looked up. “Goddess Lyra, guess hiding isn’t an option this round, huh?”

“Looks like the game’s pushing us out into the open,” Lyra replied.

Chapter 189

Lydia snorted. “Global Hide-and-Seek missions are barely about hiding anymore. Might as well change the name!”

[3. You can’t kill the Hunters. If you do, you’re dead.]

As soon as the rule was announced, Lil Lily shot a look at Lyra. “Goddess Lyra!”

Lina turned to Lyra too. “We can’t kill the Hunters?”

Sergei frowned. “So the Hunters this round are Wraiths again?”

Lyra was thinking too. Why ban us from killing the Hunters? If they’re Wraiths, shouldn’t the game be banning us from sealing them away and taking them with us?’

[4. This round, you get thirty minutes to hide, and then the Hunters have three hours to track you down.]

[Wishing you all a pleasant death.]

The broadcast ended.

A door appeared in the clearing, but no one rushed in. Everyone had been told by their countries to wait and see if anyone from their own country would show up to join them.

But to their surprise, the other players weren’t in a hurry either. They lingered by the entrance, scoping out potential teammates or fellow nationals.

Lyra thought for a moment, then pulled out the Rulebreaker Pen she’d picked up last round. As soon as she took it out, the game’s rules floated up in front of her, hanging in midair.

She paused, then tried crossing out the “three hours” for the Hunters’ capture time and scribbled in “three seconds” instead.

A warning flashed on the light blue screen: [Warning! Core rules cannot be modified.]

Lyra gave it another shot, scratching out the “can’t” in the third rule about killing Hunters. Same warning popped up.

She tried tweaking the first and second rules too, but got the same warning every time. Lyra put the Rulebreaker Pen away. stumped. ‘If I can’t change any of these, what’s the point of this pen? Maybe it only works inside the mission?”

After Lyra finished testing a few rules, about a minute had gone by. Seeing no one else show up, she decided it was time to
