Julian sat there, lost in thought. Years ago, he never imagined he’d end up marrying his lifelong crush, much less having a sweet little daughter with her.
He was glad he’d worked hard to better himself, to become someone worthy of Iris.
Deep down, he was also thankful Brandon had never gotten together with Zoe.
Julian would never forgive Arthur and Lily.
Those two had nearly ruined his life. That was why he cherished every moment of his current peaceful life.

One month later…
Zoe’s wedding was held on a private island.
Brandon and Yvette both came, wishing the new couple well.
While everyone celebrated, Yvette noticed Brandon only had eyes for her. He wandered the beach with her, helped her pick up seashells, tossed sand around playfully, and took dozens of photos. They walked hand in hand along the shore as the sun set.
With the waves crashing softly in the background, he whispered quiet love words in her ear.
“Yvette, I love you.”
Brandon gave her all the security she craved. He knew her insecure heart needed gentle care.
Fresh flowers decorated the wedding stage on the beach.
Zoe’s wedding dress was custom–designed by Yvette, a wedding gift from her and Brandon.
The sun blazed bright above the crystal–blue ocean.
Daniel had no blood relatives in attendance, but his close friends showed up for him–they were his family.
Zoe only had her mother beside her, and she did not have a large circle of friends. Even so, it was more than enough.

In front of their loved ones, the pair exchanged vows, slipped wedding bands on each other’s fingers, then held each other and kissed.
Drones scattered colorful flower petals through the air, raining down on the shore in the most romantic scene.
Night fell eventually.
A bonfire was lit on the sand. Everyone drank, sang, danced and chatted casually, filling the beach with constant laughter.
As night grew late, most of the drunk guests headed back to their seaside lodgings to rest.
Harper left with her grandfather to go to bed.
A faint moon hung over the ocean. Its light shimmered on the dark blue waves. The tide rolled onto the sand slowly, like soft music.
Beneath the dim moonlight, Julian sat with Iris tucked safely in his arms. Brandon and Yvette sat on their left, Daniel and Zoe on their right. The three couples sat close, easily hearing one another.
“This place is perfect,” Daniel yelled, brimming with pure joy on his wedding day.
Zoe tilted her head back and shouted right after him, “My husband’s right. It’s breathtaking.”
“My wife’s even prettier than this view,” Daniel called out over the crashing waves.
“My husband’s pretty handsome too,” Zoe shot back playfully.
The other two reserved couples laughed at their loud, sweet bickering.
Daniel pulled her into his arms and pecked her cheek. “You’ve got great taste picking me.”
The moon shone bright, and Zoe’s smile was bright and vivid.
Daniel held her tighter and lowered his voice. “Would you have been happier if you’d married me sooner? Do you regret turning me down before?”
“I do.” Zoe smiled softly. “But you seemed so unreliable back then. You were prettier than most girls and acted so carefree. I never dared to trust you.”
“What about now? Do you still feel that way?”

Zoe wrapped her arms around his neck and shook her head with a grin. “Not anymore. You look reckless on the surface, but you’re dependable, mature and steady. I’m the one acting childish these days.”
“Then stay my silly little girl forever.” Daniel spun her gently in his arms and murmured, “I’ll handle everything for you.”
A short distance away, Brandon walked along the sand with Yvette’s hand in his, enjoying the cool sea breeze.
“Are you cold?” Brandon asked.
“No.” Yvette leaned against his arm, staring up at him with clear worry. “Brandon, what’s wrong with you these two days?”
“What do you mean?”
“You feel nauseous every morning and keep throwing up. Did you eat something bad? Is it a stomach bug?”
“It’s nothing serious.” Brandon sounded a little helpless.
