The three women brushed off their husbands‘ texts with lazy replies, soaking up their precious alone time.
They all knew how it went. Once their babies arrived, none of them would truly be free again -no matter how many maids and nannies they hired. Motherhood tied you down.
Night rolled in.
Julian stepped out of the bathroom, wiping his short hair with a towel.
Iris walked straight up to him and held out a small gift box. “This is for you.”
Julian’s face lit up with pure surprise. He set the towel aside and grabbed the box quickly. “What’s the occasion? Why’d you get me something? I didn’t grab you anything.”
“Take a guess.”
“It’s not our anniversary, not my birthday… nothing special. I got nothing.”
“Just open it.” Iris stared at him, a soft smile playing on her lips.
Julian glanced at her, then the box, guilt tugging at his chest. “I didn’t get you a gift. I’ll make it up to you tomorrow, I promise.”
“Don’t worry about it.” Iris smiled gently. “You’re always spoiling me. It’s my turn. No pressure -just open it.”
Julian tore the box open, buzzing with anticipation.
There was nothing inside but a folded slip of paper.
He patted every corner of the box before picking up the paper. “Is this my gift?”
Iris nodded, grinning.
Confused, Julian set the box down and unfolded the sheet.
It was a medical report covered in messy technical terms he could barely understand.
Then his eyes locked onto one short line, “Preliminary Diagnosis: Confirmed Pregnancy.”
His hands trembled. His eyes burned. “Iris… you’re pregnant?”

Iris had known he’d react like this, yet her heart still melted at his raw emotion. “Yeah. I’m pregnant.”
Julian was overwhelmed. His eyes watered. He kept darting his gaze between the paper and her face before pulling her tight into his embrace. “I’m so sorry. I didn’t plan for this. I didn’t expect-”
“Are you upset about it?”
“I’m ecstatic. But we used protection.”
“Remember last month? The condom broke. I didn’t take any emergency meds afterward.”
Julian laughed through quiet tears. He held her tighter, caught between pure joy and sharp guilt, murmuring apologies over and over.
He’d always wanted another baby with her, but he hated the thought of her going through pregnancy pain again.
His feelings were all jumbled–excitement, guilt, and happiness.
Iris wrapped both arms firmly around his waist.
She loved Julian deeply.
But her love could never compare to how fiercely he loved her.
Julian would move heaven and earth for her.
They had all the time in the world ahead of them.
And happiness would stay with them forever.
Sunfield High School was an international private high school.
It had a terrible reputation. Grades were low, and the student culture was messy.
Only rich heirs and kids from powerful families went here. Most bought their enrollment with huge donations. The school had top–tier facilities from all that money, yet its college
admission rates stayed low.
The new semester kicked off.

Early in the morning, Julian rode his 50–thousand–dollar bike onto campus, drawing stares from every girl he passed.
Once he got to class, he tossed his backpack into his desk drawer and slumped down to sleep on his table.
He’d stayed up gaming till four a.m., managing only two hours of sleep before school.
He was dead tired.
“Julian, I brought you breakfast.” A girl’s voice sounded above him.
“Leave me alone. Don’t put your junk on my desk.” Julian kept his eyes shut and shot her down coldly, not even bothering to glance up.
The girl shrank back and walked away.
These pointless confessions and awkward advances had never stopped since freshman year.
He could never figure out why so many girls chased after him.
Was it his messed–up sleep schedule? Or his test scores that never broke double digits?
His future was straightforward. He just hoped his dad kept stacking money so he could laze around and play games for the rest of his life.
