Chapter 148 Helena Confronts Liana
“At least with him here, I can make Elian come to me whenever I want,” Anya said, her expression darkening momentarily before turning resolute.

“But Liana knows Theo isn’t your child with Elian now. She might forgive him and call off the divorce,” Helena reminded her.
Anya’s hand unconsciously clenched the hospital blanket. “Haven’t you noticed? They don’t even have the most basic trust between them.”
“All I’ve noticed is that Elian seems to have fallen for that woman,” Helena said gloomily.
“Mom, I wanna kill her.”
Anya’s voice was a low, venomous rasp.
A chill shot down Helena’s spine. She was about to tell her daughter not to be reckless when a phone buzzed just outside the door. She whirled towards the sound.
Inside the room, Anya remained seated, her posture rigid. Her mind and vision had narrowed to a single, obsessive point.
Yes. She wanted Liana dead.
“Sean?”
Helena opened the door to find her son and sighed in relief.
“I’m on my way,” Sean said into his phone, hanging up. He turned a cold stare on his mother. “This is a society governed by law. With Dad’s position as mayor, if either of you even thinks about killing someone, it won’t just ruin him-Grandpa’s side of the family will be dragged into it too. So calm down.”
“Your sister was just venting! Don’t you dare spread that,” she hissed.
“It’s not me you need to worry about.”
Sean’s tone was icy. Without another word, he turned and hurried down the corridor.
Helena’s heart hammered. She slipped back into the room and shut the door firmly. “Thank God it was just your brother. You absolutely cannot say things like that again, even as a joke.”.
“I wasn’t joking. Why didn’t you get rid of her years ago? If you had, we wouldn’t be dealing with this mess now,” Anya shot back, her gaze fixed and accusing.

“Yes, yes, it’s my fault for being soft-hearted back then. I thought she and her mom were stuck in the slums and couldn’t stir up a storm,” Helena admitted bitterly.
Her own phone rang. It was Lawrence, summoning her home.
As she made her way to the elevators, the doors slid open.
Liana rushed out, stopping short when she saw Helena.
“Roger, grab her,” Helena commanded without hesitation.
Liana froze, then turned to see a man in his fifties approach. He moved swiftly, grasping both her wrists and wrenching them behind her back.
Smack.
A ringing filled Liana’s ears.
“You little tramp. I was going to find you, and here you are, delivered right to me.”
Helena stepped forward, having just delivered the slap, and spat the words in her face.
“There are surveillance cameras everywhere, Mrs. Forrest. I suggest you watch your conduct,” Liana managed, fighting through the shock of being assaulted in a public hospital hallway in broad daylight.
She knew she couldn’t overpower two people and could only issue a strained warning.
Helena laughed coldly at the mix of humiliation and defiance in Liana’s eyes. She moved to Liana’s side, grabbing a fistful of her long hair and yanking it hard.
“You dare threaten me? It seems I’ve been too soft on a bastard like you. Today, I’ll teach you the lesson your dead mom never could!”
Helena raised her hand for another blow, but Liana suddenly lunged forward and sank her
teeth into Helena’s wrist.
“Ahhh!” Helena screamed in pain. “Roger, make her let go!”
Seeing blood well up from the bite, Roger wrenched Liana’s jaw with a brutal grip, forcing her mouth open.
Helena stumbled back, clutching her bleeding wrist. Enraged, she drew back her foot to kick Liana. “You bitch, I’ll teach you to-”
“Stop this instant!”

The command came from the other elevator before its doors had fully opened.
It was Rosalind, accompanied by her driver.

“Mrs. Locke! What brings you here?” Helena instantly lowered her foot and adopted a pleasant tone, walking over to greet her.
Rosalind shot her a withering glare before her gaze landed on Liana, still held firmly by Roger.
“Release Liana. Now!” she barked.
