Chapter 238 Great-grandchild
Liana, touched by their genuine affection, hurried forward.
The weight and cut of the dress cleverly concealed the light curve of her belly.
Earl and David watched from the side, their expression pleased.
“It’s strange.” David remarked. “Even though you’ve been married over two years, seeing Liana in wedding attire finally makes it feel real.”
“Yes! I’ve been dreaming lately…” Rosalind began.
“Dreaming that Liana has given you three great-grandsons?” Linda finished for her playfully.
“Oh, hush! And three great-granddaughters! No, wait, four or five…”
Rosalind’s excitement turned emotional, her voice trembling with a fear she couldn’t voice-the fear of not living to see them.
Earl shook his head helplessly at her, but his eyes were full of affection. “Rosalind’s just afraid she won’t see her great-grandkids born. The wedding’s set-what are you worrying about?”
Liana’s heart ached with guilt.
If only Elian wouldn’t end up with Anya, if only he had his own judgment and didn’t blindly believe whatever his lover said-she wouldn’t mind the family knowing.
Her deepest fear was a repeat of what happened with Theo. He had suffered so much under Anya’s hand, yet Elian simply attributed it to a “weak constitution.”
How could a kid just be weak for no reason?
More and more kids grow up on formula, and they’re strong as can be.
Elian stood quietly to the side, catching the guilty look in Liana’s eyes. But, damn it, his mind flashed to her telling him he had no right to ask her to have his child.
Was she truly pregnant?
He couldn’t be entirely sure, but….
“Ma’am, I’m sleepy. I want to sleep with you.”
Theo had stayed at the Locke Manor for a few days, and his face looked much rosier.
Chubbier too-cuter than ever.
Liana lowered her head to the boy clinging to her legs and said softly, “Okay, I’ll tuck you in. Will you show me to your room?”
“Mm.” Theo nodded, tugging her hand.
“I’ll just go change and put Theo to bed. I’ll come back down after.”
Seeing how drowsy Theo was, Liana still paused to tell the elders before leaving.
