His Last Command Came Back to Kill Him novel Chapter 108

Josiah's face darkened. "We've been waiting all morning. Surely he can spare a few minutes."

"I said he doesn't have time," the assistant sneered, refusing to yield an inch.

Just then, a sleek black town car pulled into the driveway and glided to a stop.

The door opened, and Yelena stepped out first, looking flawless and radiating an effortless arrogance.

Lyanna followed closely behind.

And finally, Clive Sherwood stepped out.

The assistant's demeanor flipped instantly. He practically tripped over himself, rushing forward with a fawning, exaggerated smile. "Mr. Weaver has been waiting for you. Please, come right in!"

The contrast was sickening.

Whitley understood immediately.

It wasn't that Mr. Weaver didn't have time. It was that they simply weren't important enough to warrant his time.

The real VIPs were Clive and his entourage.

Josiah's jaw clenched. He gripped his briefcase, ready to swallow his pride and walk away to fight another day.

But Whitley didn't move.

The opportunity was right in front of them. If they let this go, Josiah's health, their family, and the company would all crash and burn. They had no backup plan.

When The Nash Family had cast her out, it was the Zimmerman family who took her in.

She stepped squarely into the assistant's path, blocking the entrance. She looked him dead in the eye. "First come, first served."

"We've been standing here all morning. Tell Mr. Weaver we need ten minutes. Just ten minutes."

The assistant glared at her, shocked by her audacity. "Do you know who these people are? Get out of the way."

Yelena tilted her chin up, a perfectly crafted, condescending smile playing on her lips. "What a coincidence. Whitley, are you here to pitch to Mr. Weaver too?"

Whitley's eyes narrowed.

No matter how much affection they paraded around, it couldn't elicit a single ounce of emotion from her.

She looked past Yelena, focusing entirely on the assistant. "We've been waiting all morning. If Mr. Weaver is busy, we will wait right here until he isn't."

She looked fragile, but her posture was uncompromising.

Yelena smiled sweetly, turning to the assistant with a grand display of generosity. "Since they've been waiting so long, and the sun is so brutal... why don't we just let them come in with us? A little fair competition never hurt anyone."

She looked up at Clive, waiting for his approval.

Clive finally spoke, his voice completely void of emotion. "Let them in."

"Come on, Whitley. We can go in together. We're all family, after all," Yelena said, playing the gracious victor perfectly.

The assistant quickly ushered them inside, no doubt impressed by Yelena's magnanimity.

But Whitley knew exactly what this was.
