His Last Command Came Back to Kill Him novel Chapter 59

The lights in the entryway were on, casting a warm glow that did absolutely nothing to make the house feel like a home.

Her eyes instantly locked onto the shoe rack.

Right next to her own shoes and the housekeeper’s, sat a pair of bright, expensive women’s flats that definitely did not belong there.

The living room was fully lit but completely empty. It was eerily quiet. The only sound came from the master bedroom—the distinct splashing of the shower running in the en-suite bathroom.

Whitley’s brow furrowed tightly. Treading softly, she made her way down the hall and gently pushed the bedroom door open.

A second later, a familiar figure stepped out of the bathroom. She was wearing Whitley's absolute favorite silk nightgown. It was a soft, beige piece she had bought as a birthday treat for herself and rarely even wore.

The woman wearing it was her sister, Yelena.

Startled by the sudden intrusion, Yelena froze for a split second. But she recovered instantly, showing zero panic. Flashing a sweet, innocent smile, she said, "Oh, you're back? Clive told me you weren't coming home tonight. I thought you were staying at Esther’s place."

Whitley stood perfectly still. "When did I ever say I wasn't coming home?"

Clive had practically waltzed his mistress straight into their home, right into their master bedroom. He even let her wear her clothes and use her shower. The divorce wasn't even finalized yet, and they were already playing house, treating the actual wife like she didn't exist.

Yelena shrugged, entirely unbothered.

"Don't jump to conclusions. I got caught in the rain, and my place is too far. I didn't want to risk catching a cold and hurting the baby, so I just came here to rinse off and borrow some dry clothes. You don't mind, right?"

She paused, adding a sickeningly sweet afterthought. "Besides, Clive and I did this all the time when we lived abroad. Everything between us is perfectly innocent. Don't go imagining things."

Whitley froze in her tracks. She stared at the diamond, feeling the blood turn to ice in her veins.

Noticing her stare, Yelena looked down at her own hand and smirked. She wiggled her fingers playfully. "Looking at the ring? Pretty, isn't it? Clive gave it to me. He said it suits me perfectly."

Whitley took a deep breath. He certainly moved fast.

A cold laugh escaped her lips. "Is that right? Well, congratulations. You successfully played the home-wrecker and finally got what you wanted."

"Whitley!" Yelena’s face morphed into an ugly scowl. "Excuse me?"

"Clive and I have done absolutely nothing wrong! I am your sister! I came here to take a shower and borrow some clothes, and you accuse me of something so filthy?" She raised her voice, playing the role of the tragic, wrongly accused victim to perfection.
