Chapter 136

Rebel POV

It’s been three weeks since the whole situation with my uncle and his family. I haven’t heard any other updates, except to tell me that the three of them have been put under the council guard and are being held in cells until their trial, which there is no date set as of yet. I really couldn’t care less, unless the council tells me they need me to testify. In which case, I will gladly do, provided I’m not bed ridden from this pregnancy.

Speaking of pregnancy, my pups are healthy and strong. Today we find out the gender of our pups. Austin has been the most attentive mate and father-to-be. After I was cleared by Dr. Hadley and that first night together after so much time had passed, he has been constantly asking me how I’m feeling and if I need anything. I feel so lucky to have him as my mate. I’m not sure I could have gone through this pregnancy without him. I’ve had to learn as I go and it has been challenging.

I’ve had to see Dr. Hadley weekly, and every week we get to see our pups on the ultrasound machine. I think that is Austin’s favorite part. We have been talking about names for our pups and how we will decorate the rooms. He is so excited to be a dad. I know he is going to be an excellent father.

I’m terrified of becoming a mother though. As much as I want to be a mother, I don’t have the first clue on how to be one. I don’t even have a good reference point on how to be a good mom. Renata has been so sweet and wonderful in helping me understand things about babies, when they are born and what to expect. The books don’t tell you everything and she has made it a point to fill in the gaps, so to speak.

My grandparents left last week, with the promise to come back after the pups are born. Having them here was wonderful, but I understand their need to go back. I also understand, the Central Council, after having done their own research, found that four of the six Northwestern Councilmen have been compromised, either by bribery or blackmail. They were arrested and the Central Council is currently looking for replacements, however, they have already said that the Blue Moon pack will be under the Rising Moon pack until I decide who I want to appoint as an Alpha from Rising Moon, since I decided I wanted to stay in Blackstone. I don’t know the first thing about running a pack as an Alpha and the pack is too far away to be part of Blackstone. Plus, my life is here. I will however, make trips to the Northwestern region later to visit and get to learn about my roots.

The Central Council is also looking for Morgana. No one has seen or heard from her and it makes me nervous that she will come back to continue her plot for revenge against Rising Moon through me or my pups. But, for now, as long as I stay vigilant, hopefully, nothing will happen and I can continue focusing on this pregnancy.

As I make my way to the dining hall, I run into Lacey and Jane. Goddess bless these women. They have been the best friends a woman could ask for. Seriously, they are always helping me. I suspect that both of them are keeping something from me though and I would like to know what it is, before I drive myself crazy with curiosity.

“Hey ladies!” I say cheerfully.

“Hey Rebel!” They smile back.

“Okay, what’s on the agenda today?” I ask them.

“Well, we want to go shopping after breakfast. We are planning to go to the mall. Do you want to come? You are going to start needing maternity clothes soon.”

“I would love to, but I have a doctor appointment after breakfast. We find out the gender of the pups. Could we

possibly go after my appointment?”

“Oh my goddess! Yes, then we can start shopping for the pups!” They both said. Somehow, I don’t think they were just talking about my pups.

“Is there something you two aren’t telling me?” I eye them suspiciously.

I see Lacey blush. “We haven’t wanted to say anything yet, but yes, there is something I’ve been keeping from you Rebel.”

“Okay? Are you going to tell me or keep me in suspense?”

“Tell her Lacey! I am having a hard time keeping it a secret anyway!” Jane encourages.

I look at Lacey expectantly. It doesn’t seem like it’s a bad secret, but I don’t like feeling left out either. I love these ladies like sisters, so I want to be a part of whatever is going on in their lives.

Lacey takes a deep breath, “Renz and I are expecting our first pup.”

“WHAT?! THAT’S FANTASTIC NEWS!” I exclaim as I rush over to hug her. Then I look at Jane, “Are you pregnant too?”

Jane laughs, “No. Not yet. We just started trying though. Now that the Alpha has found his Luna and she is expecting, it felt like the right time to start trying.”

“It would be awesome if all of us were pregnant at the same time. Then our pups could grow up together and go to school together.” I say, as I start to get emotional. Damn it, my hormones are getting to me and I feel myself starting to cry.

Just as the tears start rolling down my cheeks, Austin comes through the dining hall doors and sees me. Darling! What’s wrong? Are you okay? What happened?”

He wraps his arms around me and wipes away my tears. “Nothing babe. I’m just a hormonal mess. I promise these are happy tears. Lacey and Jane were just telling me some really great news”, I say.

He looks over to Lacey and Jane. They are both smiling ear to ear. They look at the dining hall doors and see Renz and Jessup come through. They look to me and see I’m crying and just like Austin, they get concerned and ask me what’s wrong.

I start laughing and looking at Lacey and Jane. I can tell they are mind linking their mates. Then Renz slaps Austin’s shoulder, “Austin, Lacey and I have some important news to tell you.”

“Sure Renz. Do we need to go to my office?”

“Nope. We can tell you right here. You are not the only one becoming a father.” He says smiling.

“No fucking way!” He smiles and slaps Renz’s shoulder and then pulls Lacey in for a hug. “Congratulations you two! That’s fantastic news.”

As he finishes congratulating them, he does what I did and looks over to Jessup and Jane. “What about you two?”

“Not yet, but we have started trying, so hopefully soon.” Jessup says.

“Let me know when you guys are expecting. Once all of us confirm it, we should throw one big baby shower. I
