Austin POV

I’m talking to Renz and Jessup. They are congratulating me on the boys. I am so happy and proud of my boys already. I’m even more in love with Rebel for this blessing from the Moon Goddess.

“So are we naming the boys Austin, Jr and Austin III? Renz laughed.

I chuckle, “I have no idea. One will be named with an “A” and the other with an “R”. Rebel said she will pick the “A” name and asked me to pick the “R” name.”

“I guess that’s a nice idea. If Lacey is having a boy, it will be a little Renz, Jr.”

“And if it’s a girl?” I ask.

“Goddess, I don’t think I’m sane enough to have a daughter.” Renz said.

I laugh out loud. “You’ll be fine.”

As we are laughing, my phone in my office rings. “Alpha Austin.”

“Alpha, Luna has been taken and Beta Lacey has been injured.”

“WHAT?!” I roared. “WHAT HAPPENED!”

“Alpha, Luna and Beta Lacey said they were going to the bathroom and they would be right back. Ten minutes passed and when they didn’t return, I went to look for them. When I got to the bathroom, Beta Lacey was unconscious on the floor and Luna was nowhere to be found.” The guard explained, “We immediately split up. Two guards went outside to look for Luna and the other guard and I went to the security room to look at the surveillance video. The video showed that Beta Lacey was knocked out with a blow to the head and when Luna came out, she went to help Beta Lacey on the ground. Someone dressed in plain clothes came up behind her. I think she was injected with something in her neck because she passed out in the person’s arms. Unfortunately, there was no audio.” He finished.

I look at Renz and Jessup and they are looking at me with worry. “Renz, you will stay behind. Lacey was found unconscious in the mall from a blow to the head. Assailant is unknown. She is on her way back. Have Dr. Hadley

check her over.”

“WHAT?! What about Rebel and Jane?” Renz asks.

“Jane is fine. Rebel was taken. I’m going there now.” I say. I’m going full Alpha on whoever took my mate. I speak to the guard on the phone. “Two guards need to bring Lacey and Jane back to the pack house. The other two, stay where you are, I’m coming to you. We are going to find your Luna.”

“Yes, Alpha.” The guard said. His voice is clear with contrite and I’m glad. This shouldn’t have happened. They should have followed her to the bathroom and waited outside. I will be reevaluating each of them after I get

Rebel back.

I leave the pack house, get in my car and head to the mall. I’m speeding down the road trying to figure out who got to her. Was it Morgana? She has been quiet. Could she have been the one to hire assailants to kidnap Rebel? What about Cullen? That bastard always wants what’s mine.

I need to figure out where to start my search after I review the video. Maybe I will recognize the person who took my mate. There is going to be hell to pay. As I am driving down the road, I call Elias. He needs to know because I will end a life today.

“Councilman Elias.”

“Councilman, Alpha Austin.”

“Alpha Austin!” He says jovially. “How are you today?”

“Councilman, I need to cut to the chase. I don’t have time for pleasantries. Rebel has been kidnapped. I’m heading to the mall to start my search. I’m letting you know now, someone’s life ends today.”

“What can I do to help?” Elias questions.

“Right now, nothing. But I will keep you updated. I just wanted to give you the heads up.” I respond.

“Please keep me updated. If you need anything, the council will be there to help.”

“Thank you, councilman.” I end the call and pull into the mall. It’s time to find my mate.

Rebel POV

My head hurts and I feel groggy. What happened? ‘Roxie?’

‘Rebs, I feel weak.’

‘Are the pups okay?’

‘Yes. For now.”

‘Do you know where we are?’

‘No. Can you move though? Or open your eyes?’

I try to catalog what I’m feeling. Aside from my head hurting and the groggy feeling, I note that my shoulders feel uncomfortable. When I open my eyes, I see the ceiling of a room. It looks like I’m in a bedroom.

I can’t move my arms. It looks like they are tied to the bed when I look towards my hands. I’m laying down on a bed. I’m still dressed. I’m so confused though. I’m trying to think of what the last thing was that I remember.

Lacey and I went to the bathroom. She said she was going to wait for me outside. Oh, no! Lacey. She was unconscious. I remember checking on her.

‘Didn’t someone say that Cullen was waiting for us?’ Roxie whispered.

Shit. Roxie is right. Who was it though? He wasn’t dressed like a guard. Am I back in Ironclaw? Right when things were going well, this has to happen. I can’t stop thinking about Lacey though. I hope she is alright.

‘Roxie, do we need healing?’

‘Rebs, whatever we were injected with, it’s affecting me. I’m here, but I don’t think I can do much.’
