Chapter 149
Austin POV
“Shhh, Darling, it’s over now. He can’t hurt you anymore.” I tell Rebel. She looks like hell. It makes me want to bring that fucker back to life and kill him all over again. I grab the shirt I took off, and pull it over Rebel and she cries out.
“Darling, what is it? Where does it hurt?” I say, trying to see how the shirt is hurting her.
She sobs uncontrollably. “Everywhere. I hurt everywhere Austin. Please take me home. Please. I want to go home.” Her face is in my neck and I feel her inhale my scent. Cronos is purring to help her calm down as I feel wet tears on my skin.
“Elias, can you bring the car here?”
“I’ve already told them, they will be here in a couple of minutes. Let’s make our way to the entrance.” He responds.
I turn to Max, “Thank you.” This time I mean it. My mate is safe in my arms and he got me to her quickly.
“I’m so sorry this happened, Alpha Austin. If Ironclaw can do anything to make things right, please let me know.” Max says.
“I will not punish the pack for the mistakes of the Alpha, Beta Max. Rest easy.” I say.
I turn to leave, carrying my mate, who is still breathing in my scent. I want to get her to the pack hospital first. She may not want that, but her face is badly bruised and we need to check the pups. She isn’t healing either, so I have to wonder if Roxie has gone silent.
As we reach the entrance, I see all the warriors from my pack, the council and Ironclaw standing by. I address them with Rebel in my arms.
“Cullen is dead. I will not address him as an Alpha after what he has done to my mate. I would strongly recommend that you follow your beta. He has shown himself to have a conscious and morals. As I understand, Ironclaw warriors did not agree with Cullen and his most recent behavior. If what you believe in aligns with your beta, then I would suggest looking to him as the interim Alpha until such a time that he is either confirmed as the new Alpha of Ironclaw, or a suitable replacement is found. I am taking my mate back home now to get the medical attention she needs.”
I don’t wait for acknowledgment or cheers or anything that would hold me up. Until Rebel stops me. “Mary, where’s Mary?” she whispers.
“Mary?” I call out.
“Yes, Alpha Austin.” She says nervously.
“My mate is calling for you.”
“I’m here, Luna.”
My mate looks up with her swollen eye and lip, “Thank you. Thank you so much for getting me help. I’m in your debt.”

“Oh, no, Luna. I should have been brave enough to help you years ago. I wasn’t going to fail you this time.’
“Mary, you were the one who wanted to come to Blackstone with two other omegas, correct?” I ask her.
“Yes, Alpha Austin.”
“You are welcome to come at any time, unless you decide to stay here because Cullen is gone. Either way, if you want to come to Blackstone, I welcome you with open arms. You have Dylan’s number. Make sure you call him and I will arrange the transport, okay?”
“Yes! Thank you, Alpha. I will call by end of week to arrange it, just please, take care of her. She has been through enough in her life. She has always been the sweetest and kindest person to work with since she was a child.”
