His Plump Mate (by Buchanan) novel Chapter 150

Chapter 150

Rebel looks at me, “This is not your fault, Austin. None of it was. You sent the guard with me. I told them to stay put because Lacey and I were going to be quick. We were too, but we didn’t anticipate anything bad happening. Don’t blame yourself, because I don’t blame you. I knew you would find me and rescue me, my love.”

I’m looking at her battered face and I feel a tear come down from my eye. Maybe she doesn’t blame me, but I blame myself.

“How’s Lacey?” She asks me suddenly.

“She is fine. I believe she is recovered now.”

“That’s good and her pup?”

“Mom and pup are both well.” I tell her. “What about you darling? How are the pups, how is Roxie?”

I see her eyes water up again. “Roxie is silent. I told her not to try healing me. Cullen injected me with a low dose of Wolfsbane. He wanted me weak but conscious so you would feel all the betrayal pains. I’m so sorry, I couldn’t fight him off. I was too weak to mind link, to fight, and Roxie didn’t have enough strength to heal me and keep the pups protected. I told her to protect our boys. Now she is silent.”

She is sobbing again. This entire thing has been traumatic for her. “Shhh…It’s okay baby. Don’t apologize for what he did to you. You will get Roxie back. You will see.” I say as I rock her gently and Cronos starts purring again to help her calm down.

A few minutes later, we are in front of the pack hospital. I already mind linked ahead and told them that their Luna was injured and in need of medical care now. They were waiting outside with a gurney.

As I get out of the car, holding Rebel in my arms, I lay her on the gurney. She starts to shake, “Austin, please don’t leave me. Please stay with me.”

“I’m not going anywhere, darling. I promise. I am laying you down so Dr. Hadley can do her job, okay?”

Dr. Hadley’s eyes darken, “What the hell did that monster do to her?”

“When I found her, she was on a wooden “X” and he was flogging her hard. That’s where the welts came from. I don’t know about the rest, but it looks bad. Her wolf is silent too. She was protecting the pups. Dr. Hadley,” I paused as I looked at her with enormous concern, “Cullen had her injected with a low form of Wolfsbane. Low enough to keep her weak but conscious.”

“Shit. I need borax injected into her IV, NOW!” She orders one of the nurses to get it.

“Luna, I need to check the pups. Are you okay for me to touch your belly or does it hurt too much?”

“Please check the pups. Make sure they are okay Dr. Hadley.” She sounds like she is practically begging.

Dr. Hadley is quick as Rebel needs a lot of medical attention. The moment the machine is turned on, we hear the strong heartbeat of our pups. Roxie did an excellent job of protecting her pups.

‘She is an amazing mother.’ Cronos says, still trying to reach out to her.

I see Rebel flinch, “What’s wrong, darling? Does it hurt?”

Rebel looks at me and tears are in her eyes again, “I ache. He kept using a wand on me. It was always on full power. He forced me to come repeatedly. My body aches, there now.”

Rage fills me again, when Dr. Hadley looks at Rebel, “Luna, there are your boys. They are strong and healthy.”

I feel the relief come from my mate and then she started sobbing again. “I was so scared something would happen to them.” She said looking at me. I leaned down and kissed her forehead gently. I’m keeping my rage at bay. He is dead. He isn’t coming back and I hope he is rotting in hell.

“Roxie protected them so well, darling. I know she will be back soon. But you need to get treated now that we know the pups are okay. Can you do that?”

She sniffles and nods her head, “Okay.”
