“Thank you, Austin. Please don’t think I don’t want you or that you make me uncomfortable. It’s nothing to do with you. My mind needs a little time to not think about what has happened. I promise I will be fine.” She pleads.

I don’t know why she is pleading. She is my mate. I would never blame her for any of this, and I sure as hell am not leaving her. “I will keep everything you said in mind, as long as you remember that you are my mate and I’m not going anywhere. Please don’t plead with me. I only want you happy and healthy. Everything else can wait, darling.” I put my arms around her gently and hold her.

“I love you, Austin.” She says as she cuddles up to me.

“I love you more than my own life, darling.” I tell her.

Just then the doctor walks in, “Looks like I can send you home today, Luna.”

“REALLY!?” She exclaims

“Yes ma’am. I am having your discharge papers drawn up now. I want to see you back here in a week. If you feel any dizziness or you think something is wrong with the pups, I want you back here immediately.” Dr. Hadley advises.

“Will do, doc!”

“Okay, I am going to send a nurse in to help unhook you from the machines.”

“Darling, Lacey is bringing you a change of clothes. Do you want me to help you dress?”

“No, my love, I can do it. Just, don’t go too far.”

“I’ll be outside the room.”

Rebel POV

Lacey comes barreling through the hospital room door. “REBEL!” she is practically yelling as she pulls me into a hug and I stiffen.

“Oh! I’m sorry! I’m just happy you are back and safe.”

I haven’t seen her since I returned, but I can immediately tell she is pissed. “What the fuck did that bastard do to you!?”

“Lacey, if it’s okay, I really don’t want to talk about it right now.” I tell her. I don’t know what it is, but I feel tears prick my eyes. I haven’t had the courage to look at myself in the mirror at all. Every time someone looks at me, I know that I must look pretty terrible and it makes me remember how I got injured in the first place.

Lacey’s eyes soften, “Hey…hey…Rebel, it’s okay. We can talk about anything you want and if you don’t want to talk about what happened, then we will never speak of it.” She hugs me again, this time much gentler than the

first time.

I hug her back, “Thank you, Lacey. I just want to get dressed and go home.”

“I brought very loose-fitting clothes. Alpha said you would probably feel more comfortable that way.

“That sounds perfect,” I start putting on the sweat pants and shirt, “how is your pup?”

“Healthy and strong. Renz has gone into meltdown mode though. After being clocked in the head, he refuses to let me go anywhere without him.” She says rolling her eyes.

“Austin said I can’t leave the pack lands without him moving forward.” I smirk, “So we have two bag holding escorts when we go shopping. That was all I heard. You?”

Lacey threw her head back and laughed, “I only wish I had thought to say that to Renz!”

“It’s never too late.” I wink at her and smile. “When do you find out the gender?”

“Hopefully, next week. Wouldn’t it be great if it were a girl and one of your boys are mated to her?” She’s practically jumping on the balls of her feet at the idea.
