His Plump Mate (by Buchanan) novel Chapter 168

Chapter 168

Austin POV

After talking with Reid, I realized, along with Renz and Jessup, that this whole thing with Morgana has nothing to do with Rebel and the boys, but with Reid. Morgana felt abandoned. This is why I never thought about courting anyone. Occasional hook-ups are one thing, but relationships were always a no for me until I met my fated mate.

Now, my mate and pups are caught between a lover’s quarrel. I understand Reid’s position though. He didn’t court Morgana long and from the sounds of it, they never talked about becoming chosen mates. It sounds like Morgana developed a much deeper attachment then Reid ever did for her. Now, I have to figure this out to protect my family.

“This is such a messed up situation, Austin.” Renz says, shaking his head.

Jessup chimes in, “Rebel and the boys are innocent in all of this, so why does Morgana feel the need to come after them? Why not just go after Reid? That’s what I don’t understand.”

I sit back and try to articulate my response, “I understand both sides. Reid tried to do the right thing between both women. Morgana felt betrayed and abandoned. But, her revenge has to do with the blood line. It’s almost like she wants to rid the planet of the Rising Moon legacy and pretend it never existed.”

“Do you think Morgana wants control of Rising Moon?” Renz asks?

“It’s a possibility. We need to reach her, before she reaches us though. We need to neutralize this threat. At this point, I don’t care the reason, I just want Rebel and our pups safe.” Even in my head, this is my mantra. Keep Rebel and our pups safe.

As we are contemplating safety precautions around the pack grounds, Reid calls back. True to his word, it’s been thirty minutes.

“Alpha Austin.”

“Austin, it’s Reid. I have Stefan from Central Council on the line as well.”

“Councilman Stefan, nice to meet you.” I say.

“Alpha Austin, a pleasure. Please call me Stefan.” He begins, “I believe the Central Council has you to thank for the elimination of Alpha Kaden. We were able to unravel years of corruption after you brought your suspicions to Elias.”

“I’m glad you were able to clean up the mess he left behind with the Northeastern Council, Stefan.”

Reid starts recapping everything about Morgana with Stefan and to his credit, he didn’t hold back. Stefan remained quiet until Reid was finished and then I chimed in, “Stefan, if you have any idea how to help us find Morgana and bring the fight to her, I would be grateful. I can’t stress enough that I need to protect my family.”

Stefan slowly began to speak, “I understand the concern here. I’m not sure how to defeat a witch. But, we do have an alliance with a witch within the Central Council. I do not know how if your story will inspire her to help you though. Witches are not very trusting of our kind. A story like this, may not get her to help us, but we can try. Alpha Austin, would you be open to a visit here to the Central Council to speak with Liora, our witch we have with an alliance?”

“I am more than happy to come to you. I need to make sure I have Rebel and my pups secured here and then I can make my way to you. I can be there in two days time.” I respond.

Reid pipes up too, “I will also be there Stefan. I will explain everything to Liora. I rather she take it out on me and not my granddaughter and her family.”

“Very well. We expect you both in two days. From there we can see about finding Morgana and finding out how to defeat her.” Stefan said.

We say our goodbyes and disconnect the call. I am going to have to leave Rebel here by herself. I think as long as she stays here, she will be fine. “I want the Luna Guard on her and the boys twenty-four, seven. No exceptions. Triple the patrols on the borders as well in my absence.”

Both Renz and Jessup start working on getting security measures lined up. I make my way back to Rebel. I need to tell her I’m leaving for a couple of days. As I enter our bedroom, I see Rebel breastfeeding Aiden. She looks peaceful and beautiful.

My mom sees me, “Austin, is everything okay?”

“Hey mom, could you give me a few minutes with Rebel? I need to speak to her. I promise to fill you in after.”

“Sure. Mind link me if you need me.” She says as she kisses Rebel on the top of her head and leaves the room.”

After I close the door, I walk over to Rebel. Goddess, I love this woman. I can’t bear to think of anything else happening to her. “Rebel, darling, I have to leave to the Central Council. I will be gone for a couple of days. They have an alliance with a witch named Liora. I’m hoping she can help us locate Morgana and tell us how to defeat her.”

Her eyes water but she holds back tears. “I understand. Promise me, you will come back to me and you are not going to do anything reckless. Don’t go after Morgana on impulse.”
