Chapter 171
Liora looks at me pensively. I hope she is willing to help. I hold her stare and wait for her to finish processing what I said. Then she looks at Reid, “It seems like you are the reason for everything happening to your granddaughter. You should be feeling so guilty. I don’t take lightly hearing about my kind having their heart played with, only to be abandoned and banished like nothing but a piece of trash. While I would be willing to help Alpha Austin with his mate, who is innocent in all of this, it would mean helping you, Alpha Reid. The thought of helping you doesn’t set well with me though.”
Reid straightens in his seat and looks at Liora in the eyes, “I feel guilty. I won’t pretend to deny my guilt in this situation. I tried to let Morgana down easy all those years ago. We only courted for three months and I had no idea that she harbored feelings for me prior to those three months. At least, I didn’t realize that her feelings ran as deep as they did. She never said a word to me until she tried to harm my mate, Adele. I swear it on the Moon Goddess, Liora. However, I would rather she bring the fight and grievances to me. I am the person who hurt her and I would face the consequences.” Reid finished earnestly.
Liora softened her eyes. I hope she believes Reid’s words. He sounds like he is being truthful and I can see the sincerity in his eyes. “I need some time to process everything discussed today, Stefan. I don’t take lightly attacking another of my kind, but I can see this is a special circumstance. I need some time. Perhaps, we can continue this conversation over dinner this evening?” She looks to the three of us.
“Yes, dinner would be great.” I say quickly; grateful that she didn’t turn us down outright.
“Very well. Six this evening. Stefan, you choose the location.” She says dismissively and stands to leave. “Until this evening then.”
After she leaves, I turn to Stefan, “Do you think she will help us?”
“Honestly, I’m not sure, Alpha Austin. It’s encouraging that she didn’t flat out refuse though. Let’s see what happens tonight at dinner.”
Reid and I say our goodbyes and head towards the hotel we booked. Once we arrive, we check in to our rooms. Luckily, we are both on the same floor, so we take the elevator up together. Once inside the elevator, I hear an angelic voice. I’ve heard this voice before. Last time I heard it, was when my warriors took the blood pact.
‘Go to Rebel. Liora is a trap. Leave now to save your family. Tell no one but Reid.’
I stiffen. FUCK! Rebel and the boys are in danger. This cannot be happening right now! “Reid, Rebel and the boys are in trouble. I have to go. Will you handle the dinner? Please don’t say why. Say I had an urgent call to take and wouldn’t be able to make it. Come up with something, please!”
“Rebel and the boys? Go. I will handle it. Keep me updated.”
As the elevator opens, Reid gets out and I stop the elevator with my hand. “Reid!” I call out and he turns to look at me, “Liora is a trap. Don’t trust her!”
Reid’s eyes widen, “Thank you for telling me. Go. I will handle everything here.”
I go back down and rush out. I mind link the guards and tell them we are going back to Blackstone, right now. I won’t let her get hurt. Not this time. Thank you, Moon Goddess, for warning me.
