His Plump Mate (by Buchanan) novel Chapter 172

t, I went to the library. Where ever I go, my sons and the Lana Guard go with me, along with Mary, The library is not far from the boy’s room. I had a safe room installed and if something happens, no one will know the boys are in there. I will have Mary stay with them as I fight with the warriors, Looking back, I’m glad I thought ahead, because the dread inside me refuses to leave,

As I am searching through the library, I see a very old leather bound book. I hadn’t noticed it before. It looks a little dusty but I see the word ‘Witch’ on the binder. I zero in on this book and reach for it immediately. With the book being so dusty, it’s no wonder I never saw it before. It seemed to have blended in with the rest of the shelf. I sit in my chair next to Mary and the boys are in there bouncing cradles.

“What is that book for, Luna?” Mary asks.

“I’m not sure. I just found it, hidden under dust and blended into the shelf. It looks like it is about witches. though.” I respond.

I open the book and as I start reading, I notice this book is about the history of witches and what there is to know about them. The book is old and I’m not sure how much of the information is still valid, but I decide to look for ways to defend or defeat a witch. I flip through the pages until my eyes falls on the chapter that says, ‘Remedies To Safeguard Against Witches.’ That sounds like what I’m looking for but I’m not sure, word choice in this book sounds old-timey.

As I’m reading through the chapter, there is a section that catches my attention. ‘Potions and Runes’ and as I am reading about the potions and runes, which I don’t think I would be able to concoct, there is small footnote. It’s handwritten and I don’t know who penned the small section, but it reads:

‘Witches, while magical, are still human and weaker than wolves. Phoenix Blood will suppress their abilities long enough to eliminate their threats.’

Phoenix Blood. That’s the answer I have been needing for days. Where do I find it though? How do I use it? I continue flipping for other footnotes, but I don’t find anything. I go back to the shelf, looking for anything about witches, potions, phoenix blood but I come up empty.

Then an idea comes to me and it may be a long shot, but it’s all I’ve got. ‘Dr. Hadley. Do you know anything about phoenix blood?’ I link her.

‘Luna, good morning. I’m not the most well versed about the topic but I have heard of it. It comes from the dragon blood plant. The oils have to be extracted and it looks like a fire orange with floating red sparks, hence the name phoenix blood. Why do you ask?’

‘I think I found a way to weaken Morgana, but I need to understand how phoenix blood works and the application. Do you have any books or contacts that could provide it to me quickly?’ I ask hopeful. It’s the most hopeful I have been in days.

‘I have a couple of colleagues that have studied alongside witches. I’m not sure if they will have what you are looking for though, Luna. I will ask them.’ She responds.

‘Please. I need to know quickly. Let me know what you find out. This is extremely important.’ I say closing the

This may be the one thing that helps me protect my sons. Austin’s sons. I don’t care what happens to me, but those are the three most important men in my life and I can’t let anything happen to them.

Morgana POV

Liora did well, extending her decision to feign helping Austin and Reid until tonight. By then, they will both be too late to do anything for Rebel and her brats. They will be out of the way. I was able to get a map of the layout of Blackstone from Kaden before the idiot got himself killed. I know where to enter for myself after the rogues create the distraction I need. There is seven hours before the beginning of my grand finale can take place. Timing will be everything. I will execute this plan flawlessly and then I will start phase two. Making Reid suffer by making him watch his granddaughter and her brats suffer. He will learn that the one who could have made him but now will break him, is none other than me. I smile to myself. After this, if I die, it will be with the peace of knowing that I made him pay.

Chapter 173

Rebel POV

It’s been a couple of hours since talking to Dr. Hadley. She worked quickly and for that, I’m truly grateful. She reached out to me, that one of her friends is in the next pack over for a conference with some healers regarding the healing power of herbs. Not only did he have phoenix blood with him as a sample to explain during the conference, but he also was discussing its uses and said he would be happy to come by at the conclusion of the conference, which should be concluding at any moment. Then he will make his way to Blackstone.

She told me his name is Dr. Higslee. I smirked at the interesting name but I don’t know what to expect when I see him. As time grew closer to his arrival, Dr. Hadley came to the pack house. I advised the patrol about the doctor’s arrival and he is to be brought to the pack house immediately.

“Luna, I think you will like Dr. Higslee. He’s a bit odd in behavior, however, everything he does is purely from a medicine point of view. I am hoping he will be able to provide you with what you need.” Dr. Hadley says with quiet confidence.

“I hope so. I need to understand how to apply it to weaken a witch’s ability. This could determine the future of Blackstone.” I said.

“I brought a couple of herbal and medicinal books for you to learn what some plants look like and how they will help you cure certain ailments. It’s good for common practical uses. What you are asking about today is a little more complex, but you have always been a quick study to learn things. I have no doubt you will learn this as well.”
