Chapter 195

Rebel POV

I wake up when it’s morning. Austin is draped over me and his hand possessively on my belly. It’s warm and cozy. I sighed contentedly. I snuggle closer to him and inhale his delicious scent.

“Easy, darling. You know what your wiggling does to me in the mornings and we have a meeting with Stefan today.” He growled softly.

“I was just enjoying being cozy with my mate.”

“I love it when you cozy up to me, darling. But we do need to get up and get ready.” He said moving to get up.

I instantly feel the loss of his warmth and I pout. “Fine.”

I stand up and unceremoniously strip out of my pajamas. I’m naked in front of Austin and his eyes immediately darken with desire.

“Easy my little minx. I will take you over my knee again later if you keep that up.”

I bat my eyelashes, “Promise?”

He growls low, “Oh, it’s guaranteed now, my minx.” He gets up and crashes his lips on mine before smacking my butt and making me yelp. “Now, let’s get ready.”

After breakfast, we head to the central council and meet a very rude secretary that tells us to go down to the last door on the left.

“She is interesting.”

“Yeah, would you believe me, if I told you that that is just her personality? She was like that the last time I was here with Reid. By the way, he texted and said he is in the office with Stefan already.”

“That’s great. Remember our plan. We can’t say anything to Stefan or Reid.”

As we knock on the door, we are greeted by my grandpa. “Hi grandpa!”

“My dear granddaughter!” He pulls me in for a hug, “How are you feeling?”

“I’m good. No complaints.” I said, “Stefan, it’s good to see you again. The council is very nice. Thank you for inviting us here to talk with you some more.

“Luna Rebel, I am glad you and Alpha Austin were able to make it. Please have a seat.” He said, gesturing at the chairs.

As we sit, we start discussing any updates. Stefan starts, “Our undercover guards have not found anything suspicious, other than her visits to the old house. When they follow Liora, there is no sign of her after entering the house. Both guards also said they don’t see the portal magic light. We don’t know where she is disappearing Eto when she gets into the house.”

“Could she know that she is being followed and is escaping from the back door?” Austin suggested.

“No. There is always one guard in the front and one in the back. There is no sign of her leaving the house, once she enters it.”

“We could always remove her from the equation altogether.” I advise.

“What did you have in mind?” Stefan asked, piqued by his curiosity.

“Call her in here and let’s have a conversation with her. Besides, we suspect she is the second witch helping Morgana. We need to take a look at her neck to confirm our suspicions.”

Stefan eyes me like I’m hiding something. I am, but I will tell him after the objective is achieved. Stefan reaches for his phone and dials an extension.

“Liora? Yes, can you come to my office please? Alpha Austin and his mate Luna Rebel are here with Alpha Reid. They wanted to ask you for your help.”

After he hangs up, he lets us know that she should be here in five minutes.

When five minutes have passed, we hear a knock on the door. “Come in.” Stefan calls out.

In walks a witch with fire red hair, mix with black and pale green eyes. She is also very fair skinned. Her body is petite and she almost glides as she walks. I noticed a fashionable scarf around her neck. She must have been the one that was pretending to be me in that cottage. Her eyes zero in on me and she gives me a faint smile. “Luna Rebel, I presume?”

I stand and approach her with a soft smile on my face. I extend my hand to shake hers, and I say, “Liora, it’s a pleasure to meet you. My mate and grandpa told me you were willing to help us with Morgana. She has caused so many problems for us, and we don’t know how to fight back. Are you still willing to help us?”

She smiled softly, “Why yes, Luna Rebel. Of course I will still help you, however, helping you also means helping your grandfather. That doesn’t sit well with me. As a compromise, I will help you with Morgana, but if she comes after your grandfather, I will sit back and do nothing. Do you agree with my terms.”

I put on my best frightened look and start at my grandpa and then at Austin, who knows this is a show. “But he is my grandpa. I went my entire life without any family, and I’ve only just been reunited with him and my grandmother. Isn’t there anything I can do to help protect them too?”

“I understand your concern Luna, however, my kind have been constantly treated poorly by your kind and there should be justice for Morgana where it concerns your grandpa.” She says.

Then my grandfather, right on cue, chimes in, “Rebel my dear, I will suffer any consequences for my past actions as long as you and my grandpups are safe.”

I look at the clock and mind link Austin, ‘Any minute now. Be ready, my love.’

“Liora, surely you can understand leaving me without my mother’s family would be like tearing at my soul for a second time in this life. Morgana was banished but not killed. Given the history with Rising Moon and her plot to destroy my grandmother in the eyes of my grandfather, don’t you think it was a better outcome than death?” I plead for my grandfather.”

“Luna Rebel, I would like to help you but if you keep insisting that I ignore what your grandfather has done, then I will rescind my offer. Please do not take my understanding of your situation as a weakness. It would be a mistake for you to underestimate me.”
