Chapter 219
Austin POV
Dr. Moreno is finally discharging me. I must say, whatever he put in that serum fast tracked my recovery. I managed to get Rebel to rest next to me. I want to take care of her, even if I’m in this bed. The nap did us both some good too. I can see her eyes look less stressed.
The nurse came in, and Rebel moved aside, so the IV and everything plugged up to me could be removed. Rebel called Jessup and asked him to bring me clothes. I got up and even though I am fully recovered, I feel a little shaky. Probably because I haven’t moved from that uncomfortable bed in over twenty-four hours.
I decided I’m going to shower before dressing. For a split second I think I might flirt with my mate, but I see her laying on the sofa resting and decide against it. She must be tired. It has been a stressful few days. I shower quietly and then change into fresh clothes. I’m finally feeling human again. When I step out, I sit on the sofa with Rebel and carefully lift and cradle her in my arms.
‘It’s good to have our mates in our arms again, Austin.’ Cronos says, as he sighs contently.
“You got that right, buddy.”
I think back on this first time I saw her. She was unsure of herself. She thought I would reject her. Since then, I’ve done nothing but love her. Every day it grows stronger. I’m grateful to the Moon Goddess that our threats are gone. I can’t imagine my life without my mate, and now I don’t have to.
Cronos starts purring softly for Rebel to continue sleeping when there is a knock at the door. Rebel stirs awake, and I tell whoever it is to come in. That’s when Stefan walks through the door, along with Reid.
“Austin, how are you feeling?” Stefan asked.
“Dr. Moreno’s serum fast tracked my recovery. I’m feeling much better.” I responded.
“That’s great. I hear you are getting discharged?”
“Yeah. I’m just waiting for the nurse to give me the discharge paperwork. I believe she is printing it out.”
Rebel sits up, “Hi Stefan. I want to see Morgana when Austin is discharged.”
“I do too.” I said.
“Austin, you should go to the hotel and rest.”
“Rebel, have you learned nothing? We go together. Not separately, darling.” I smile at her. There is no way in hell I’m leaving her alone.
“Fine. But you can’t overdo it, my love.”
“I won’t”
Stefan looks at both of us and chuckles. “You both act like you have been mated for twenty years, not one year.”
“That’s because we are perfect for each other, Stefan. Moon Goddess knew what she was doing.” I said, grinning.

Rebel rolls her eyes, and I mind link her. ‘Rolling your eyes? Do you want me to spank that perfect ass of yours?”
She raises an eyebrow to me, ‘Promises, promises.’
I growl in the mind link before closing it off. After another long twenty minutes of waiting, the nurse comes in with a wheelchair and discharge paperwork. “What’s the wheelchair for?” I ask.
“For you, Alpha.”
“Yeah, I don’t need the wheelchair.” I said.
Rebel, Reid and the nurse all look at me. “What?”
“Hospital policy is that every patient being discharged must be rolled out in the wheelchair. It’s a liability issue, Alpha. So, take a seat.” The nurse said firmly, patted the seat of the chair.
Reid laughs, “Not so funny now, huh?”
I scowl at the three of them and Stefan joins in the laughing, “Alpha, let’s not make the nurse’s job difficult. It will only be for a couple of minutes. I have the SUV waiting for us downstairs.” He chuckles.
“Fine.” I grumbled as I sat in the seat.
After we got outside, I jumped out of the wheelchair. I was feeling like an old man, and I have several years ahead of me before I get to old age. Rebel just shakes her head, smiling, and sits in the SUV. I sit next to her in the back seat and wrap my arm around her. Reid and Stefan are in the front seat, and they head towards the council office.
