Chapter 242
Aiden POV
She took off. She pushed that prick against the wall and ran.
Her father is a royal asshole. He was saying anything he could to make me reject my mate. He knows that is not going to happen. He’s not even a formidable opponent. There is no ranked energy of any kind coming from him.
I’ve waited fourteen long years to find her, and I am not going to reject her because daddy dearest decided he wanted to use her for a marriage alliance. It didn’t escape me how she was protecting her sister too. Something is definitely off about that man.
Reid puts his hand on my shoulder, “Bro, why don’t you go after her and talk to her?”
“We need to handle this, first.” I said.
“Well, she knocked out the human. I’ll make sure he gets a cab to whatever address is on his ID.”
We hear a light knock at the door. When we opened it, there was an older lady and a younger girl standing in front of us. The older one reminds me of Thalia.
“Diego!” She runs to him.
“You know this asshole?”
“He’s, my husband.” She looked at me.
“So, you are Thalia’s mother?” When she nodded, I turned to the younger girl, “Would that make you Mia?”
“Yes. Where is my sister?”
“She ran. I am going to go find her.”
Her mother looks at me, “Why? Who are you?”
“I am Alpha Aiden and Thalia is my fated mate.” I said. Her mother’s eyes widened.
“But she doesn’t have a wolf. How?”
“She has a wolf. My wolf Leon sensed her. I wouldn’t have been able to scent her otherwise.” I replied. I noticed Mia looking at Reid and me, back and forth.
“This is my twin, Alpha Reid.”
“How is it you both look identical and fraternal at the same time?”
For someone so young, I’m surprised she knows anything about twin pregnancies. “You’re a smart one. Not many have asked us that question. The answer is, we don’t know. We are identical but we have different features.” I said.
I turn to Reid, “I need to find Thalia. You sure you got this, bro?”
“Yeah, I got it.”

I turned to leave and Mia calls out, “If she ran, it’s because she needed air. You will find her by the water.”
“Thank you, Mia.” I said, as she blushed. Interesting.
“You’re welcome.”
I took off towards the ocean. I see her in the water. She is waist deep. That water has to be freezing right now. It can’t be comfortable. But then she immerses herself in the water completely. When she comes back up, she screams. I am taken aback by how gut-wrenching and agonizing her scream sounds. Like she is suffering. It was followed by crying.
My heart was breaking for her, but I stayed back, giving her the moment she clearly needed. Leon is demanding that we go to her.
‘In a minute, Leon. She ran off because she felt suffocated. We can’t barge in on her. Let her finish crying, then we will approach her, okay?’
‘But she needs us, Aiden.’ Leon whined.
‘I know, and we are going to be there for her. Give her a minute, though. Remember what Mia said.’
After a few minutes, she stopped crying. I approached her quietly, but she has extraordinary hearing. She could hear me walking in the sand. I wonder if her wolf is gifted? I don’t want to alarm her, so I call her name gently and ask her if she wants to talk.
“No. I’m fine now.” She said, as she walked out of the water. Her body clearly looks cold. I took off my jacket and put it over her. It didn’t escape me that she stiffened, again. That’s the second time tonight.
I pulled her chin up so her eyes could meet mine, “You were crying and screaming. I don’t think that means you are fine.”
“I’m just frustrated with my father. He has been trying to force this marriage alliance and I’m kind of fed up with it.”
I know that isn’t the whole story, but I decided not to push it. Instead, I try to lighten the mood.
“You have a beautiful voice. What was the song about?” I asked.
She closed her eyes, and when she reopened them, she gave me a faint smile and started explaining, “It’s an old love song. It’s about trying to explain when a person falls in love. How he fell in love. The first lyric is ‘I don’t know how to tell you when it happened, I can’t explain how it happened, but I fell in love with you.’
“What other talents do you have?” I asked.
“I have great aim.” She said with a glint in her eyes.
“Oh yeah?”
“Yeah.”
Then her smile faded and she asked me a question, “Were you serious about my wolf?”
“Yes. I wouldn’t be able to scent you, if you didn’t have a wolf. You smell exotic too.”

“Then is what I’m smelling, your scent?”
“That’s very probable. What do you smell?”
“I smell black cedar and leather.”
“Typically, scents are combinations. So that is very likely what I smell like to you.”
“Then how do I smell to you?” She asked.
She seems curious, like she doesn’t understand how these things work, “You smell like rum, mint, lime and it’s very sweet.”
She starts laughing. What a beautiful fucking sound. It’s making me hard as fuck right now.
