Chapter 270
Aiden POV

Thalia is a mystery to me. Her uncle said her life has been hard. Reid and I suspect she’s been assaulted, but she clearly knows how to defend herself. Around strangers she stiffens. Then she gets embarrassed and blushes easily.
She is this tough exterior and yet she is still vulnerable and innocent. I want to ask her a lot, but I don’t want her to pull away either. She seems to put everything on her shoulders, like all the burdens of the world are hers to carry. She also doesn’t seem to want help. Not even an examination from her own uncle.
Everything about her is a contradiction. She doesn’t even know that she is driving me crazy, but she is, in fact, driving me crazy.
“So what’s the deal with Tina?” She asked me.
“Hm? Oh, she is the one that gave me the tea.” I said.
She raised an eyebrow at me and I swear, she wears her facial expressions well. She looks curious and amused and clearly waiting for me to elaborate.
“Tina was vying to be Luna.” I said.
“What? Can someone apply to be for Luna, like it’s a job?” She asked confused.
I chuckled, “Sometimes, if an Alpha or anyone really, doesn’t find their mate after so many years, then that person might take on a chosen mate.”
“Oh, and she was hoping you were going to take her as a chosen mate?” She asked.
“Yeah. I thought about taking a chosen mate, but couldn’t bring myself to do it.” I replied.
She gives me that curious look. “How long have were you waiting for your fated mate?”
“Fourteen years.” I said seriously.
“Fourteen?!” She repeated.
I started explaining, “When we get our wolves, that is usually when we find our mates too. As soon as Reid and I turned eighteen, we got our wolves. Reid and Navy immediately recognized the mate bond, but didn’t meet my mate. Not until I met you.”
“So, if you hadn’t come where I lived, we may have never met at all.” She said.

“Yeah. I have to remember to thank Reid for pestering me to go.” I said.
“You mean your brother is why you went to the coast?”
“Yes. I hate to admit he was right, but he was.”
Then I hear my brother, “I’m usually right about everything. What was I right about this time?” He smirked.
“Right about me leaving the pack to find my mate.” I said.
“So now I can say, ‘I told you so’?” He smirked again.
“Why did you have to pester him into going to the coast with you?” Thalia asked
Reid.
“I think it’s better if Aiden explains all that to you. I am leaving now, brother.” He said to me.
“Okay. By the way, you were right about the tea, too.” I said as I watched his eyes darken.
“You want me to take care of that before I leave?” He said with a sinister grin.
“No. I will handle it tomorrow. Right now, I am going to show Thalia the pack house.’
“Alright. Thalia, next time I come here, I want to hear about the whole hitman bit. I thought you were kidding, Black Widow.” He chuckled.
“That’s an awful codename. For the record, my codename was Kabar.” She said.
“Kabar?” I asked, “Like the knife?”
“Yes. It’s my weapon of choice.” She said as I raised my eyebrow to her.
“Kabar sounds way cooler.” Reid said. “I’m hugging now.” He announced, making Thalia laugh lightly.
We hugged him goodbye and he got in his car. I had four of my warriors follow behind him for security. Then I took Thalia by the hand and led her inside of the pack house. When we walked inside, I saw her eyes widen again. She really seems in awe of everything in the pack. The Alpha in me feels proud that my mate approves of the work I’ve put into the pack. The mate in me feels good that she likes everything so
far.
“This place is beautiful. Very warm and inviting. Much like your personality.” She said and I’m stunned that she confessed something to me so unexpectedly.
