Aiden POV

I wake up before Thalia does. She is cradled against me again. It’s the best fucking feeling in the world. She nuzzles into my chest and breathes out content. I know that she is nervous but I think she also feels safe with me. It may just be a foreign concept for her. Given her family, the fact she had to escape, the way she stiffens at touches, it makes sense. I just wish she would tell me what happened to her.

I know Reid said to go at her pace, but it’s really hard for someone like me to do that, because I want to fix everything and protect her. She doesn’t seem to be comfortable with that idea either. For now though, I will be content to hold her while she sleeps.

After a little while I hear Thalia yawning. She is waking up and it’s really adorable. She looks like a kitten stretching out. She stops when she realizes she is practically on top of me again.

“Oh, Goddess. I’m sorry.” She scrambled to sit up.

I chuckled, “We are mates, Thalia. Don’t be sorry. I love when you reach for me. It’s the only time you let me hold you.” I said.

She blushes and once again, I find it adorable. “I don’t want you to be uncomfortable because of me.”

“I sleep better with you near me, Thalia. A lot better.”

As she gets up, I notice her shirt is riding up a bit and I get a glimpse of something red underneath. It looks like a tattoo, but I’m not sure.

“What time is it?” She asked.

“About nine in the morning. We need to go down and get some breakfast. Do you want to use the bathroom first?”

“Um, sure. I’ll be quick.”

She runs to the closet, and she grabs an all-black outfit and then hurries into the bathroom. After a few minutes she comes out and she is wearing a pair of black capri pants and a tucked in black top. Most women with a body like hers would show off their figure. Not Thalia though. Every time I have seen her, she always keeps everything hidden. It’s not exaggerated but it just seems odd. Even her sister wears midriffs.

I get up and walk towards her. “You look beautiful.” I said.

I pull her chin up and lean down to kiss her. This time she is more relaxed and leans into the kiss more. I growl my approval lowly and when I pull back her eyes look a little dazed. I smile at her, “I’ll be right out.

I went into the closet, and I opted for my normal clothing. Dark blue jeans and a solid color shirt. I’m going with black to match my mate. Is it corny? Sure. But I want her to know that I support everything she does. When I come out, she has her hair in a loose braid and there are pieces hanging down on the sides of her face. She looks stunning. I can’t believe how gorgeous she is or how lucky I am.

She stares at me with her eyes wide. “What?” I asked.

“It’s really not fair.” She said and she walks to the door.

“What’s not fair?” I asked, confused.

“Nothing. Let’s go get breakfast.” She replies.

“Okay?” I’m confused. Did I do something wrong? This woman is driving me crazy.

As we walk downstairs towards the dining hall, I grab her hand. “When we walk in, I am going to introduce you and your sister to the pack. I expect you will hear welcomes and cheering.” I say to warn her so she doesn’t feel suffocated.

She nods nervously. “Could you please tell me what isn’t fair? It’s driving me crazy with curiosity.”

She looks at me and her eyes are amused. “You really don’t know?”

“Um, no.”

“It’s not fair how good looking you are, Aiden.” She said with a smirk.

I laugh. “Why would you get frustrated over that?”

“We all don’t have your looks.” She said as if she were stating the obvious.

“What are you talking about? You’re gorgeous.” I said.

“Uh-huh. Can we go in now?”

I look at her incredulously. She really doesn’t see it? Okay, I will have to work on her with that too. As we walk into the dining hall, everyone stops talking and looks over.
