Chapter 300

Thalia POV

I notice Aiden is staring at me, gauging my reaction. I slowly understand why. But what he doesn’t understand, is that I am happy for Rory. “That is so great! Is Jonah taking the news well?”

“They are both excited. It’s their third. They have two daughters. I think Jonah is hoping for a boy this time. Rory keeps saying he is an excellent girl dad.” Aiden says and I feel his tension.

‘I came to terms with my situation a long time ago, Aiden. I thought it was going to be an issue for you.’ I said via mind link.

‘It’s no issue for me, baby. I do want to talk to you about it later though.’ He replied.

‘Sure. You may want to ask my Tio about the details though. He’s better at explaining it, then I am.’ I said. It’s the truth. I was fourteen when I found out that I had a less than one percent chance of ever conceiving. Wolf or not, the injury was really bad. At fourteen, I wasn’t thinking about having a pup, so it didn’t bother me. It only started bothering me when I met Aiden.

Since he said he doesn’t care, it took a lot of stress off of me. For a brief moment last night, I imagined what being pregnant with Aiden’s pup would feel like. But I know it’s not possible, so I don’t daydream about it.

Everyone is giving us their congratulations and even though I know it’s expected and normal, I’m still trying to get used to not feeling shy about it. After breakfast, Aiden said he wanted to show me the mines.

“Mines? As in mineral mines?” I asked. I really don’t know how this pack makes their money. I casually asked how the pack sustains their way of life and Aiden said the mines and he would take me to see it.

“Yeah. Gemstones, really. The pack was built around the mines to protect it.” He said as we were approaching the entrance. He hands me a hard-hat and vest with reflectors on it for safety.

“You’re already wearing boots.” He added as he led me to the entrance.

“Hi Alpha. Hi Luna.” The workers started saying as we entered the mines. I’m not used to being called Luna. I really wish everyone would just call me by my name.

As we go further into the mine, Aiden grabs my hand and pulls me back, “I’m still securing that section. Don’t walk that way.” He said.

“Securing?”

“Yeah, these mines are pretty deep. I don’t want to take you all the way down. It’s better if we stay in the current area.’

He’s protecting me and there is something very manly and sexy about him making sure I’m safe. Maybe it’s just me and the fact I’m not used to it.

Aiden is feeling my neediness. Which is part of the whole Aiden Effect. He looks at me and raises an eyebrow. Damn it, he knows what he is doing. “Should we go?”

“Yes.” I said and my voice sounded almost breathy.

He chuckles, “Okay.”

He takes me by the hand and leads me out of the mines. When we get outside, he grabs me quickly and kisses me passionately. It’s unexpected and completely subdues me. My arms go around his neck, and he tightens his grip on me.

When he finally pulls back, he looks me in the eyes, “Better?”

“A little.” I said.

“I can’t wait to get you alone tonight.”

“Tonight? I guess I’m done for.” I said walking to the pack hospital like we planned to do today, “Damn Aiden Effect.” I whispered under my breath.

“What was that?” He said beside me.

“Hmm? Oh, nothing.” No damn way I’m admitting that to him. He will get an ego and that’s going to be the end of me tonight.

“Oh, it was something. Aiden effect?” He smiled and damn it, I have to look away.

“I don’t know what you are talking about.” I said, refusing to look at him. I already know my insides are going to clench and turn to Jello if I look at him right now.

He grabs me from behind, making me squeal. He wraps his arms around me and kisses my neck where my mark is and it’s making me shiver, laugh and smile. He is smiling in my neck too.

“Aiden effect. Tell me.” He says.

“Nope.” I said, “We need to get to the pack hospital.” I turned and walked away.

He growls playfully, “You know I have my ways of finding out things.”

I smile, “I have a way of keeping my own secrets.”

“Oh really? How many secrets are you keeping from me?” He asked.

“Well, Aiden effect, for one.” I said laughing as I took off running to the pack hospital doors.

I hear Aiden laughing as he runs after me. When we get to the hospital, he whispers in my ear that it will be a very long night for me until I tell him and damn it…I’m starting to feel needy. I think this is the mate bond. I can’t even mark him without my wolf. If I’m feeling this way with just his mark, Goddess, I won’t be able to leave the bedroom if my wolf ever comes.

“Tio.” I called out when I sspottedhim.

When he sees me, he gives me a huge smile and pulls me in for a hug. ” Congratulations, Aiden and Thalia.” He gives me a softened look and in Spanish tells me, “I’m so proud of you for taking this step”
