His Plump Mate (by Buchanan) novel Chapter 301

Chapter 301

Aiden POV

I’m surprised that Thalia just shrugged about not being able to have pups. I don’t care, either way, but I thought it mattered to her. Of course, if she ever did get pregnant, I would be happy as fuck. My love for her is not contingent on her giving me pups though.

Raul looked at me and Thalia and asked us to sit down. He pulled out her file again and went over the records. I see his eyes darken and I don’t blame him. I still have plans for her bastard of a father.

“Aiden,” Raul said, “Let’s talk about Thalia’s fertility, first.”

I look at Thalia, “You know I love you. That love isn’t conditional on whether or not you can have pups. I just want to understand.”

She leans on me, “I know. I just thought that it was important to you.”

I nod and look at Raul, “Okay.”

He sighed, “When Thalia was attacked the first time, she was gashed deeply with silver. She was lucky to survive. Even with the medication I created to prevent silver poisoning, it still wasn’t enough.” He continued, “Thalia’s womb and ovaries were scarred in the attack. At the time she had a less that one percent chance of conceiving, let alone carrying full term. However, I didn’t know about the second attack until Thalia got here. I don’t know how much more damage has been done to her body.”

I feel my heart breaking for Thalia. I look at my mate, and she is sitting beside me, seriously. If you are not paying attention, you can’t see the sadness behind her

eyes, but it’s there. “So, let’s say we wanted to have a pup, IVF wouldn’t be an option?” I only ask to understand the extent of the damage.

“Let’s say Thalia could conceive,” Raul started, “It doesn’t mean she could carry to term. The damage was extensive. If my niece could ever conceive, the moment she finds out, she would be on bed rest and that still wouldn’t guarantee a full-term gestation, Aiden.”

I squeeze my mate’s hand. She is keeping a poker face expression. “You should have your uncle do another thorough exam, baby. Just to see if there is anything else we need to know about your health and how to treat it.”

She looked at me expressionlessly, “Okay. We can set that up, right Tio?”

“Si, sobrina. After this conversation, we can get it on the calendar.”

She nodded and then I looked at Raul, “What about her wolf? Is there anything we can do to help her wolf come out?”

He looks at Thalia, “Now that you are marked and mated, are you feeling any fluttering, Thalia?”

“Fluttering?” she asked.

“If you have to question it, then you are not feeling your wolf yet. I think the trauma you have sustained all these years has your wolf pretty locked up inside of you.”

That makes sense, “How do we free her wolf?”

“Honestly…I’m not sure.” Raul said, but then he starts theorizing, “Our wolves drive a lot of our behavior, but we also influence our wolves. It could be that Thalia’s wolf is scared because Thalia has been scared. Her wolf was traumatized because of Thalia’s trauma. It could be that now that Thalia is opening up to you and clearly starting to not only trust you, but the pack and your family, then it could mean that her wolf will start trusting you, the pack and your family too. But this is just my theory.”

“I have another question.” I said, “At fourteen, a pup of that age isn’t normally ready to get a wolf. That doesn’t normally happen until eighteen. Given her mother is a wolfless omega and her father not being a ranked wolf, it seems unlikely that Thalia would get her wolf early, yet I know that her wolf is there. Also, Thalia has more than excellent hearing. I am of the belief that her wolf could also be gifted. Could she have a gifted wolf?”

Raul sits back, like he hadn’t thought about this fact over the years. I look at Thalia and even she is looking at me like I just unraveled another puzzle piece she didn’t know existed.

“Tio?” She said, trying to process what I just said. Clearly, this is upsetting her. I don’t understand why though.

“Thalia?” I said, holding her hand, but she recoils from me and stands up. “Baby, tell me what you are thinking.”

When she turns around, I see rage in her eyes. What the fuck? There is something else she is thinking. What did I just make her realize?

Raul stands up and walks over to her and starts massaging her shoulders to calm her. I’m taking note of his technique. I have a feeling I may need it later.

“Is that why he hates me, Tio?” she asked. “Did he know? Does he hate that I may have a gifted wolf? Was that his motive for putting me through that hell?” Her voice cracked. “WHY!?” She starts crying and I jump up and pull her into my arms.

She is sobbing in my chest. The betrayal of what her father did is weighing on her. At the end of the day, she is still a girl who wants her father to love and protect her.

“I don’t know if that’s the reason, mojito. I don’t know what his motive was or if it is why he did this to you.”

She pulled back like she had an epiphany. “If I’m gifted, he can’t control me. If my wolf is special, then his wolf couldn’t overpower me.”

“I promise you; we are going to figure this out, baby.”

Raul then cursed loudly, “SON OF A BITCH!”

The outburst startled Thalia and I held her against me. “Raul?”

“Thalia, you said after the second time, your father started giving you contraception pills, right?” Raul asks and he is shaking visibly.

“Yes, Tio.”
