Rodrigo POV

I’m still fuming over my father’s dismissal of making me the Don of the family. I’m twenty- two. I should have been giving my position at eighteen. Father knows this but keeps delaying it for me. All because of my fucking sister.

I lost my wolf because of her. I was told that Thalia thought I wasn’t strong enough to take over and that I probably couldn’t handle wolfsbane in my drink. A friend of mine dared met do it because I was complaining to him about Thalia and I nearly died. My wolf did die. I ha just gotten him too. My father told me that it changes nothing about my position and yet, over the last four years, I can tell he has changed his mind.

Who else would he give it to if not me? Thalia is wolfless. Mia is barely eighteen. Quite frank they are only useful to lie on their backs for marriage alliances. And why shouldn’t they? They both should be thinking about the family first. Not this stupid idea of love and dreams. This is the real world. It’s harsh, brutal, and unforgiving

They are selfish to run away on the day of the wedding. Who the fuck cares if Thalia found her mate? What the fuck is so special about her, anyway? She’s used up. I’m surprised that Armando would want to put his dick in her. Not after she’s been run through.

My father told me what happened. She was ‘kidnapped’ and then let grown men sleep with her. This happened more than once too. We all have her staining our family name and she can’t seem to get it through her head, that her dreams don’t matter.

I’m getting to the firing range. I need to release some stress. My aim is spot on and always has been. I pull out my Ruger. It’s my favorite gun. It feels right in my hands and I aim with ease. I unload my clip and hit my target dead on with each shot. As I continue switching out targets and squeezing the trigger, I feel myself getting angrier.

Why is Thalia always running from her fate? She is a dumb, used up bitch. She’s wolfless. She says she has a mate, but I don’t believe it. You need a wolf to have a mate. No wolf, no mate. Simple. It makes me wonder if I would have ever had a mate.

No matter who it would have been, it wouldn’t have helped the family anyway. It’s better that I don’t have a wolf. I’m in the human world anyway.

Sin and I have been talking about the pros and cons of turning. The full moon is soon and we need to make a decision. I’m all for having a wolf I don’t think Sin is convinced though. I think it’s all a little overwhelming for her.

“Sin, just imagine how much stronger we will be. Plus, we can find our mates, too. Wouldn’t that be nice? Someone who only has eyes for us?” I asked.

I look at her exasperated. “What’s holding you back?” I asked, purposely not answering her question.

“I don’t want to let go of my family. My brother and sister are important me.” She said.

“Yeah, but no one has said we have to give up on our family. We are not exiled from the hy world. I mean, look at Thalia. She has been living the entire time in the human world.” I countered.

“I’m just not sure that I want to go through all the pain either.” She said.

“Is that what is really bothering you?”

“Part of the reason. Mia looked like she was in pain. I can’t get the screams out of my head, Canary.”

“Yeah, but, it’s only the first time. Like losing your virginity, right? Hurts the first time and then you are fine.” I said. “It would be our wolf cherry!” I laughed.

“Yeah, I want to talk to Isaiah and see if he is really okay with turning us and ask him if he knows how long it would take for us to turn and what risks there are. What if we die?”

“Perhaps we can go ask Thalia’s uncle about the risks and how long it takes. He would know, right?”

“That’s a good idea.” She said mulling it over in her mind.

“Okay. Let’s ask him after breakfast tomorrow. Then we can make our decision. Deal?”

Sin sighs but looks at me with a small smile. “Deal.”

My body is hurting. Nyx said that marking Leon before I marked Aiden set off his rut. When she said he would give me pain and pleasure, she wasn’t joking. Nyx is healing me though. It’s a weird feeling for me, because I’ve never experienced my wolf abilities before.
