Diego POV

My men came back. One of the men smelled like they pissed themselves and haven’t cleaned up yet. My lead man comes in, and everyone looks like they have seen ghosts.

“What the hell happened?” I asked and before I let anyone answer, I turn to piss pants, “Damn it, Tom, go clean up. You’re stinking up my office”

When he leaves, I look at the group, “Speak.”

Dave, my lead man starts explaining. “Armando’s men and our men were scaling the are told you about before. There are traps everywhere. We were trying to determine a pattern get through but we weren’t getting very far. After a while, we started hearing noises; twig breaking, huffing, shit like that.”

“Where were the noises coming from?”

“Don Diego, they were wolves.” He said. “A lot of wolves.”

I started asking a series of questions. This is likely a pack and I want to know if it was a standing pack of a rogue pack. A rogue pack, I can cut a deal with to find Thalia and Mia.

“What color were they?”

“Different colors, but there was one massive black one leading the charge. It looked organized too. There were only a few in the beginning and they were growling at us. At first, we were going to shoot them down, but then the black wolf howled and another twenty came out and we were outnumbered. We would have run out of bullets before taking them down.”

It sounds like a pack and the Alpha was there. Why though? They have a trap site. That would normally be all they need.

“Okay. Leave me. I will give orders in a little while. I need to think.” I said.

As they all file out, I have started looking for the pack directories in that area. I saw Ironclaw, Blackstone, and Star Fire packs. I start with Ironclaw, I don’t see anyone in the roster that seems familiar. Next Star Fire pack. Again, no one is familiar. I got to Blackstone last. When I look up the roster, I notice Alpha Aiden is the Alpha. I wonder if that is the same Alpha Aiden that is Thalia’s mate.

I start digging for information but every time I think I’m getting somewhere I am locked out of the directory system. I go back to the roster and then I see a very familiar name staring back at me. ‘Raul Moreno, MD’.

What are the odds? What are the odds that Thalia and Mia are traveling in that direction and disappearing near the pack where my brother is the head doctor of the pack and his Alpha has the same name as Thalia’s meddlesome mate?

I called Rodrigo to my office. “Yes, pa?” he says and clearly, he is still upset with me.

“You want to show me you are ready to take on this pack, Rodrigo?” I asked.

Rodrigo’s eyes light up. “What do you need?”

“I need you to track a phone number for me. I want to know all calls made to and from this number in the last two months. I need it yesterday.” I said, “Do you have resources that can find me this information quickly?”

Rodrigo takes the paper from me, “I definitely think I can do something with this. But I to know that you are going to make me the head of the family.”

“We will discuss our transition plan to make you head of the family. You will also need to consider getting married. Any man stepping into this role must be married and you have thought about taking that step.” I said.

“Fine. We will discuss marriage and we will discuss the transition plan. I will start working on this now. Give me twenty-four hours or less and should have the information for you.”

“Good.”

Rodrigo leaves and I make my way to the basement to see my disappointing ex-mate. She looks pathetic.
