Chapter 44

Rebel POV

I’m deep in thought as Austin, Renz and I walk back to the pack house. My father lied about my existence to my mother’s family. He robbed me of a family and pack. He robbed me of a life, education, love, family, and all I can think of is why? He didn’t even want me. He just felt obligated to be responsible for me so why keep me when there was a whole other family out there that could have been there for me and loved me and made me feel wanted? Why did he give me a life hidden away and in isolation and loneliness?

I’m angry, upset, shocked, and numb. I’m so many emotions that I can’t figure out which I want to feel first. Austin is holding my hand and trying to push his love and comfort through our bond, and I appreciate it, but right now, I just want to go for a run. I need to let Roxie out and clear my head.

“I need to go for a run. I need to let Roxie out and clear my head.” I say to Austin.

“Okay, I’m coming with you. Cronos needs to be let out too.” He says and leaving no room for argument. I just nod and get to the tree line before stripping and pulling a shift.

Roxie’s paws hit the floor, and Austin comes close to run his fingers through her fur. She licks him and he chuckles. “You were amazing back there Roxie. I’m letting Cronos out to run with you. Not to hunt you but just to keep you company. Both you and Rebel have had quite the revelation today. We just want to be close to you both. But soon, I hope we can let both you and Cronos complete your bond too.”

Roxie snuggles him and chuffs that she understands. We wait as he pulls a shift. Cronos’ large frame and black fur come out and he crawls over to Roxie on his stomach trying to comfort her and not scare her.

Roxie doesn’t scare easy though. In fact, the only time she has ever been scared was meeting Austin. She lays beside Cronos and nips his ear and nudges him with her nose. She gets up and starts running. Cronos chuffs and takes off, following behind Roxie, nipping at her heels. She felt carefree and playful with Cronos. He was all too happy to play along. He didn’t push Roxie into completing the mate bond, but Roxie wasn’t haven’t it. She wanted her mate and because we could sense he was being careful, she took the initiative. She started licking Cronos and rubbing herself over and over again, against his fur. Then after she got him hot and bothered, she laid down and raised her bottom in submission and Cronos lost control.

He mounted Roxie and as they are finding their release, they mark each other and complete the bond. Roxie sighs and feels content and so does Cronos. I’m sure they both could stay out here for the night, but it’s almost dinner and Roxie is starving, so that means I am too.

I urge Roxie to get back to where we left our clothes and before Roxie pulled her shift, Austin had and he walked over to us smirking at her. He runs his fingers through her fur again. “You and Rebel are little minxes, beautiful.” She chuffs and licks him and there is a playfulness in her eyes. “Okay beautiful, go change and let’s grab dinner.” He chuckles.

I pull a shift and get dressed. When I come out from behind the trees, I see Austin waiting for me. I look at him and see my home. In such a short time, this man has come to be the most important person in my life. I’m so overwhelmed with emotion that I have the sudden urge to wrap my arms around him, so that’s what I do.

Austin wraps his arms around me, “Hey darling. It’s a lot today, huh?” I sigh and nod my head in his chest.

“We have a lot to talk about, but for now, I just want my mate.” I say as I move my arms around his neck and kiss him gently. He wraps his arms around my waist and deepens the kiss. When he pulls back, he grabs my hand and
