Isaiah POV

Kaia and I just finished clearing more from her ever-growing list of offenses. At this point, it’s become her hobby, and I’m not complaining. I love being buried inside my mate. She isn’t shy anymore, and now she is demanding. I love bringing it out of her, too. 1

We are breathing heavily, and she is sprawled across my chest. She grins against my chest as I rub her back lightly with my fingers.

“What are you smiling about?”

She smiles harder, “Did you think it would be like this for us?”

I smiled warmly at her, “I knew it would be amazing. I didn’t know if it would be this amazing, though.”

“When do I learn about what I am going to be doing? Am I guarding Thalia? Do I run patrols with you? Like, what am I doing?” she asked.

I kissed the top of her head. “Let’s get through the blood pact ceremony first. Speaking of, Aiden said, because we are mated, you should be in the know about the blood pact and why it’s so secretive.”

She sat up, and even though she isn’t showing it, I feel her soreness. I may have gone a bit harder than I should have just now. She was talking back, and I wanted to subdue her. The end result was still really incredible, though.

“Really? You’ll tell me?”

“Yeah, so this is actually a result of mom. Her bloodline comes from Rising Moon. But her story is all kinds of messed up. Anyway, the Moon Goddess favored them. So she entered a blood pact with Rising Moon. It had to be kept secret, though. If anyone found out, then the ranked members and warriors would no longer have the Moon Goddess’s favor,” I explained, and then added, “Entering the blood pact not only gains you favor, but the Moon Goddess tends to give gifts to the warriors and ranked members. Things that the pact would need.”

“But that’s Rising Moon. How did Blackstone get it?” She asked.

“That’s because of mom. She was the first person from the Rising Moon bloodline to meet her mate outside of the pact. The Moon Goddess then allowed the blood pact to be accepted here. Then, when Aiden and Reid were born, Reid inherited Blue Moon. Since he was in the blood pact, it also affected the Blue Moon ranked members and warriors.”

“But regular pack members are not invited to join the blood pact? Why?”

“Only the Moon Goddess knows. You are correct, though, regular pack members do not get to be part of the pact.”

“So Sinclair can’t be part of the blood pact unless she is a ranked member or warrior?” She asked.

“Then she would need to be a ranked member. There are currently no openings,” I said. “Also, Aiden and Thalia should be here soon. It’s my night to run patrol. Do you want to come with me or are you sore?”

She smirked, “I like this kind of sore. It’s the kind that leaves me wanting more.”

I chuckled, “Gods, what am I going to do with you, trouble?”

“Continue making me sore,” she said with a slick smile, then a thought crossed her mind, and I could see it clearly.

“What?”

“What is your gift?”

“Oh, right, both Adrian and I have the same gift. We both absorb blasts. That’s why when the explosive was about to go off, we both shielded you and Sinclair. We would have absorbed the impact,” I replied. “It allows our strength to amplify later.”

“So if I throw a bomb at you, then you won’t die?”

I laughed, “The energy of the impact would be absorbed. If you go throwing bombs at me, I’m losing limbs, so don’t get any ideas.”

She smiled brightly, “I don’t want to blow up your very important limbs.”

I feel her desire in the mate bond, and I growled happily at my mate as it takes her again for a couple of more hours. She said she liked staying sore after all.

The next day, Aiden and Thalia came back with Rodrigo. They all look tired from the trip. Rodrigo also looks somber. He is clearly not in a good mood. Aiden must have spoken to him about Julian.

“Hey, bro. Good to have you back,” I said.

“How was everything while we were away?”

“Quiet. Nothing out of the ordinary.”

He nodded and then looked at Thalia. She blushed, and clearly, they were talking in the mind link. She gave me a hug and then walked ahead into the pack house.

I looked at my brother and raised an eyebrow, and then he responded to the look on my face. “Please. As if you don’t have Kaia’s scent all over you.”

I chuckled, “Best scent in the world.”
