Isaiah POV

My brain stopped functioning for at least two minutes when Kaia said my pup needed to eat too. Storn was in my head, preening around, clearly proud of himself and excited about being a dad.

I’m not going to pretend I don’t feel the same way, though. I’m fucking ecstatic. Aiden came up to me as Thalia and Kaia started walking to the dining hall.

“Congrats, bro. Now the pain begins,” He chuckled.

“Pain?”

“Yeah, you won’t be sleeping much. Get ready for midnight abominations called cravings, too,” Aiden

chuckled.

“Then I’m glad we are doing this together so we can drink our sorrows later.”

We both laughed and followed our mates into the dining hall. We had so much to talk about, but now there is a lingering question. Actually, there are several lingering questions. First, who is replacing me at Blackstone? Second, who will be my ranked team? Third, Moon Goddess set this up for Kaia and me to run Ironclaw, which means there will be a responsibility we alone will know how to handle.

I will think about all that tomorrow, though. I felt the exhaustion overcome Kaia, and I called it a night. I carried her to our room, and she was already passed out in my arms before we even got to the bedroom. I lay her down on the bed and started stripping her of her shoes and clothing. I was very careful not to wake her. I would like to give her a bath, but she is sleeping so peacefully that I opted to put one of my shirts on her. I leaned down and kissed her lips gently, and she smiled in her sleep.

I smiled. Who knew it would be like this between us? She was a royal pain in my ass in the beginning. Now she is my everything and the mother of my pup. I looked at her stomach. It’s still flat, but I know our pup is in there. I leaned down and kissed her stomach. I whispered, “I can’t wait to meet you. I love you already.”

I washed up in the shower quickly and quietly slipped into bed. I pulled Kaia towards me and held her. “I

love you, trouble.”

I kissed the top of her head and fell asleep, dreaming of a little girl with big, round, blue eyes like her

mother.

Damn, I’m a lucky bastard.

The next morning, when I wake up, I hear Kaia humming in the shower. I smiled. She doesn’t usually wake up before me. I walked into the shower and saw her rinsing herself off. There is steam floating everywhere around her, and the water is spraying across her breasts. She is washing her body with one of those loofah things.

I smiled and stepped into the shower only to hiss. “Fuck, Kaia. Are you trying to peel the paint off the wall?”

My eyes are incredulous, and I turn down the temperature of the water. “Baby, the loofah is coming out medium rare.”

“What is refreshing? Looking like you just came out of a seafood boil?”

We argued over the temperature for the rest of the shower. When we got out, steam filled the air, rising towards the ceiling in smoke curls. I pointed up, “See, we look like we just came out of a meat smoker,” I said, laughing as we made our way to the bedroom.

She laughed and then said she was hungry. “I feel like I’m starving.”

I smiled and pulled her onto my lap. “That’s probably the pregnancy. Are you feeling okay, though?”

She smiles shyly, “Yeah, but um, should we go see the doctor? Make sure everything is okay?”

“Damn right we are. Right after breakfast,” I nuzzled her neck before kissing her mark. “Something you need to understand, Kaia, you can’t shift during the pregnancy. You could hurt or kill our pup.”

Her eyes widened, “Really?”

“Yeah. This is all still new to you, but your body breaks down and gets put back together. The pup could be affected. Also, no fighting. If there is a battle, you go into the safe room. I can’t risk you getting hurt.”

She looked down, trying to process what I’m telling her, so I gave her something to cheer her up, “Wolf pregnancies are shorter than human pregnancies. They are only about five months, okay?”

I hear her stomach growl, and I chuckle, “Let’s go feed our pup.”
