His plump mate (Rebel and Austin) by Buchanan novel Chapter 484

Chapter 484

Isaiah POV

I asked one of the guards where to find Max. The guard mind-linked him, then told me he would meet me in my new office in five minutes.

I went up and took a look at everything in the office. I could smell several different she-wolves in this room. It’s nauseating. I opened the windows and then made a mental note to have the omegas deep- clean this room to get the stench out. I’m also replacing this desk. I don’t even want to think about the infections sitting on the surface.

I know there is a stigma about women sleeping around, but even men can be whores. Paul is clearly a whore. I don’t even know what women see in him. He is an arrogant and pompous motherfucker.

While I’m in my thoughts, on finalizing how many pieces of furniture I’m going to need to replace, Max walks in.

“Isaiah, you wanted to talk to me?”

“Hey, Max. Yeah. Come on in. I’m sorry about the smell in here. Your son clearly did a lot more than just

work in here.”

Max’s face flushed with embarrassment. “Would you believe me if I told you that the omegas came in here and deep-washed everything before you came here?”

I think I feel my lunch coming back up. If this is already deep-cleaned, then I would hate to think of what it was like before they cleaned. Disgusting.

I take a seat in the chair on the other side of my desk. I don’t even want to know what Paul has done there. Max looks like he has second-hand embarrassment for his own. My father would have skinned my brothers and me alive if we behaved like our office was a brothel.

“Max, first, I need access to the pack’s finances and all other documents related to the pack. I’m sure it’s on that computer right there, and I will need to get sign-on IDs for everything. If you could provide me with a list of people I need to accomplish that, I would appreciate it.”

Max nodded, “Beta Aric can help you with that. I will ask him to come now.”

“Hold off on calling him for a minute. I want to talk to you about Beta Aric and Gamma John. I overheard the omegas talking about them when I went to give them our lunch dishes.”

“It wouldn’t surprise me. What would you like to know?”

“I hear that Gamma John is always making unwanted advances towards the omegas. I hear that Beta Aric usually defends them.”

Max sighed, “You would be right. Beta Aric is protective of the omegas. His sister was an omega.”

“Was?”

“She was murdered by rogues a few years back.”

Damn. Okay, so Beta Aric is probably feeling guilty or obligated to watch out for the rest of the omegas now.

“I’m sorry to hear that. How old was she?”

“I think it would be a good call.”

“Okay. Also, I wanted to talk to you about the mole we have here. There is a bit more to the story, I don’t think you are aware of, and I might need help flushing out the guilty party.”

I go on to explain everything about Kaia and her dad, their relationship, and then how Kaia was almost killed in cold blood in the middle of daylight. Then I explained how and why her father vehemently denied everything, claiming he was being set up.

“You’re saying he knew the terms of the new prenuptial but said it all came from me. He was also planning to give the fifteen percent to Kaia. It would have been better for her to divorce before the five years. Why did he want her to wait until after the five years for fifteen percent instead of before the five years?”

“Yeah, it doesn’t make sense. Kaia asked her attorney to investigate. If it clears her father, she won’t let an innocent party go to jail, but then it leaves us with the question of who really paid for the hit?”

“I don’t think it was Paul. Better, I don’t want to believe it was Paul. Is there anything that suggests it could be him?”

“Well, he has motive, means, and opportunity. But, I don’t think it’s him. He was set up, too. He didn’t know that wasn’t the original agreement. He also steered clear of Kaia, as far as I know. Was he a royal asshole? Yes. Did he cheat on her constantly? Absolutely. At the end, did she end up in the hospital? Yeah, she did. He did it, though, waiting for the five years. If he really wanted her gone, he could have arranged her death at any time. He didn’t. Instead, he put Ironclaw in trust to protect his ownership of the pack.”

“So it was someone else, trying to tie up loose ends then,” Max said.

“That’s what it certainly sounds like to me. Which means, Kaia being here is dangerous, and what’s worse, I don’t know who to trust here.”
