Sinclair POV
We reached the dungeons. Isaiah had his phone on, and he was ready to record; otherwise, Kaia said he would be sleeping on the couch. I laughed when I heard that, and Aric’s mouth twitched. He is trying so hard not to be disrespectful and laugh at his Alpha, but honestly, I don’t care about all that. I look at Isaiah like a brother-in-law. Kaia is my chosen sister. That’s all that’s important to me.
“Are you ready to have some fun?” I asked Aric.
He raised an eyebrow at me. “When you find your mate, Sinclair; I know he won’t be bored.”
I laughed. “No rush on finding him. But you are right, he wouldn’t be bored.”
Isaiah sighed, “You and Kaia are a pair. That’s for sure. I haven’t had normal blood pressure since the two of you arrived at Blackstone.”
Aric laughed, and I grinned playfully and devilishly. “Why don’t we raise Paul’s blood pressure then?”
Isaiah scoffed, “As long as it isn’t mine.”
We walked in, and Isaiah told the guards outside to keep watch and not disturb us unless he called for them.
As we walked down the dungeon stairs, I started to understand why Isaiah said Kaia shouldn’t come down here. It smells rank. I breathe through my mouth until we get to the bottom and then walk towards the end of the corridor.
We passed the guards and the Gamma that Isaiah said was trying to hurt women. I narrowed my eyes at him, and he growled low at me. Isaiah grabbed him through the bars, though, and growled back.
“Watch your fucking tone, John. I have been too busy to deal with you and your posse, but do not think I have forgotten about you. Growl at her again, and I will have your fucking head,” he snarled.
He shoved him backward, making John fall on his ass. Aric came forward and growled low at him too. He must not have liked him either. I just crossed my arms over my chest and smirked. I could honestly take that idiot down, but it’s nice to have someone defend me.
“You dare growl at my sister?” He said deathly low.
John cocked his head, “Sister?”
“Yeah. Sister. Now shut the fuck up and fix your face before I rip it off, John.”
John’s face changed, and he held up his hands. “Sorry,” he said insincerely.
I grabbed Aric’s arm, “Let’s go, brother.”
He nodded and turned away. We continued walking down the corridor. I never realized the dungeons in a pack could be like its own underground system. It was long and deep down here. We finally got close, and Isaiah pointed to the cell on the left and lifted his chin, signaling that that is where Paul is kept.
I nodded, then he stepped back, pulled out his phone, and started recording as Aric and I walked up. Aric saw Paul and banged on the cell's bars.
“Hello, Paul.”
Paul looked up. Kaia’s ex. He doesn’t look like an Alpha. He looks defeated. His shoulders are broad but slumped forward. He is sitting on a bench with his elbows on his knees and his hands pressed against the brows on his forehead.
“Aric?”
“Yes.”
