Kaia POV
When I came out of the safe room and made my way outside, I saw nothing but carnage. This was a full-out war. I had missed it. For the first time since finding out I was pregnant, I feel ready to have Titan and get back in the fight.
I looked around and saw Aiden, Thalia, Austin and Rebel. Several of the Blackstone warriors were here. I see dead rogues, and I see dead Ironclaw warriors. I even see John, the former alpha, gutted and dead on the ground.
Isaiah walks towards me, “Trouble, you don’t have to see this. We will clean up everything.”
I don’t care about the mess. “What happened?”
“It’s a very long story, Kaia. This was Ronan’s doing, though.”
“Ronan. Why do I remember that name?” I asked.
Sinclair walked up. She is bruised and battered. “Cherise and Ronan Clay, from the adoption records.”
My eyes widened. “Your father did this?”
“He is Aric’s, Dad, not mine.”
“WHAT?!”
Isaiah then added, “He was also behind Amber’s curse.”
“I’m not missing the next fight. I will hide in a bedroom to hear everything if I have to, but someone is going to explain all this to me. And how did John end up here?”
“I suspect that he and his cronies were let out by Ronan. He got away after twisting a knife in Amber’s chest. Adrian rushed her to the pack hospital,” Isaiah said.
My mate looks utterly exhausted. I put my hands on his cheeks and kissed him gently on the lips. “Go be alpha. I will wait for you to fill me in. I will see if the omegas are okay and have them start preparing food. You all will be exhausted by the time this is cleaned up.”
He wrapped his arms around me and buried his head in my neck. “We are not ready for a war,” he whispered.
I hugged him back and whispered, “We will be. Don’t worry about that now.”
He kissed me again and then walked off to continue stacking bodies together. I looked at Sinclair. She looks like she is about to break down. I grabbed her and pulled her in for a hug.
“Are you okay?”
“I don’t know,” she said. “I feel like I’m losing control of everything I thought I understood.”
I straightened her up and looked her in the eyes. “Sinclair, remember the client we worked on back in the human world? The one with the automotive empire?”
She nodded.
“Well, we were thrown off the right scent more times than we cared to remember, but in the end, we got our guy, didn’t we?”
