Austin POV
I know my son is hurting, but I’ll be damned if he harms a woman. Especially in my presence. He’s angry. His mind is a mess, and he isn’t thinking clearly. He is getting mad at the wrong person.
Before I can even grab Adrian, Sinclair pulls a gun, and it is ready to shoot him in the face. She has more sense of self-preservation than my own son at the moment. It worked, and he put her down. She makes it clear to him that she wants Ronan’s head, too.
Hell, she isn’t the only one. That man came here to destroy my family. If I get my hands on him first, I’m tearing him to shreds.
‘I want to hunt that asshole down!’ Cronos said while pacing in my head.
‘We are going to hunt him down. Right now, Adrian is more important,’ I said.
‘I’m beating Thor’s ass, right now. Sinclair's a good one.’
I grabbed Adrian’s arm and turned him around to face me. I’m growling low and towering over him. His eyes shift from anger to despair. All I see is red. Red for the torment he is living because of Ronan’s manipulation. Red for Amber’s betrayal. Red for how he just treated Sinclair. Red because all of this has caused him nothing but pain at the hands of other people who didn’t deserve him.
“Apologize. NOW!” I snarled.
I see him clench his jaw. He takes a couple of deep breaths and turns around. He looks at Sinclair and sees the marks on her neck. Then I see the contrition in his eyes.
He cursed himself quietly. He looked her in the eyes. “Sinclair, I’m…,” he said, choking on his words. “I’m sorry. I’m angry. You are not to blame. I don’t blame you. I just want Ronan. I lost control of myself and Thor for a minute. Will you forgive me?”
Sinclair raised an eyebrow at him, “I know you are pissed. I am too. It explains a hell of a lot of what has been going on between the two of you all this time. Aric and I both want Ronan’s head. There is no shortage of people who want him dead. I think you are affected more by this than anyone, Adrian. I don’t blame you. How is Amber?”
Adrian looked around the table. Everyone is looking at my son like an asshole. Well, he acted like one just now, and Sinclair is giving him grace and understanding. She really is special.
Adrian sighed. “The knife was laced with silver. Black blood from the curse started seeping out during the surgery. The doctor said it’s a form of necrosis and put her in an induced coma to keep her calm so her body can heal.”
No wonder he is losing it. He must be feeling it in the mate bond, the pain she is in from something like that.
Sinclair gently grabbed his face and looked at him intently. “I swear I will find him, Adrian. We are going to bring that asshole to justice. Just so we are clear, I forgive you, but don’t think you can do that again. Next time I will take you out, understand?”
He nods, and Sinclair pulls him in for a hug. Cronos sighs at Sinclair. I agree. I wish she were mated into this family, too. She is a good woman despite everything she has gone through in her life. She didn’t let anything from her past mold her into a spiteful person. She really has a good soul.
Adrian wrapped his arms around her and hugged her. He let go of the tears quietly and buried his face in her shoulder. Looking at them like this, they really would make good mates.
