Kaia POV
I’m waiting by the airstrip. I have Titan in his stroller, and Isaiah is standing beside me. Inside the small building, looking out of the windows, I’m waiting to see the plane land and for Sinclair to come back home.
I’ve been beside myself since I heard what happened. In the four days following the birth of our son, Izo healed me quickly. I was discharged a day early. While I’m still taking it easy, Isaiah and I managed to talk to Alpha Max. He left with Paul. Paul’s jaw was tight the entire time, seeing me with my son and mate. I thought I saw regret, but I don’t care about any of that.
We warned Paul not to attempt to disrupt our lives again. I remember the conversation…
“Paul, I’m finally happy. Isaiah and my son give me the family and love I’ve always longed for. If I find out you were working with my father to kill me, I will hunt you down myself and show you all my skill sets.”
Isaiah spoke up, “Do not come near us here or in the human realm. We know that you were getting women from Julian and Harvey Birch. The council from our region and your new region have been put on alert and will be performing surprise visits for the foreseeable future. We have chosen to let some of your criminal activity slide. Call it an act of good faith. Make no mistake that we will leverage it against you if you try anything at all against us.”
I looked at Alpha Max. “The only reason we are showing leniency towards Paul, Max, is for your sake. We understand he is your only son. We do not want to be responsible for your bloodline vanishing. If Paul finds a second chance mate and starts an actual family and humbles himself, it will be a compliment to you.”
“Isaiah, Kaia, thank you. I know this is more than Paul deserves and more than I should have expected. We will not disturb you again. Congratulations on the birth of your son,” Max replied.
Paul then spoke up, “Kaia, I didn’t understand until after I was locked up that you were a victim in this, too. I shouldn’t have been harsh. Also, tell Aric I’m sorry about everything. I should have cherished Iris, and I didn’t. I will live with that regret.”
Isaiah lifted a hand, and the guards ushered Max and Paul away. Let’s hope they stay away. Once they drove off, Isaiah put his arms around me, “Do you know how amazing you are?”
“I do, but I never get tired of you telling me, stickler,” I smirked as I leaned into his chest.
He growled playfully. “I can’t wait until you are completely healed.”
“At least two more weeks. Doctor’s orders,” I said.
“Then we should try for a daughter,” Isaiah suggested.
I laughed. “No. I need a break from being pregnant. We can try again in a couple of years. We need to build up this pack and make it safe for our pups, Isaiah.”
“I know. But it will be fun perfecting our…methods.” He whispered in my ears, making me shiver.
That night, we went to bed with our son in a bigger bassinet. Now we are here at the airstrip. These last few days have not given me real rest. It’s a good thing Izo at least hurried the healing.
‘Yes, because we have a lot to do, Kaia. First, we need to perfect our pup-making skills. We need a daughter, too! Then we need to help take down Julian. Sinclair needs help with Ronan. Don’t get me started on finding warriors!’
I chuckled. “I know Izo. Sinclair is our sister, even if we are not blood related; she is chosen family, and I will never not be there for her. Slow down on the pup-making. I’m not a breeding machine.’
‘Mali is my sister, too! I love our mate filling us up!’ She said resolutely.
Both she and Isaiah are insatiable. I won’t lie; I am, too. I’m just not ready for another pup. I want to wait, and wait we shall.
