Sinclair POV
I’m still working in the background, helping out the pack. There is a war coming. I don’t want innocent people hurt because Julian has a weird obsession with ruling the world. How narcissistic does one have to be?
I also have a vested interest now. Twins. I only just found out last week I was having twins. My own little family. I’m not letting anything happen to these two bundles of joy. I honestly thought I just had a stomach bug. I framed the ultrasound picture. I grew up with no one caring to document anything about my life. I will not let that happen to my pups. They will know love. They will know that I valued their existence. They will know that I always wanted them.
I moved from the warehouse. I had to. Who raises pups in a warehouse? Luckily, I know how to make a new identity for myself. I had money put away. I bought a small home in the country under a new name. Sinclair Cross is gone. Now I’m Kendra Smith. Unassuming and common and something no one would look for.
I moved into the small home and decided to stay with the local hospital for the pregnancy. I buy in cash everywhere, and I have everything encrypted. I’m out of sight and out of mind in this sleepy town.
‘Adrian and Thor should know they are going to be fathers, Clair.’
‘No. He didn’t love us and was only using us, Mali. He wouldn’t love our pups. He didn’t even want their mother.’
I put my baseball cap on and left the house. I started walking towards the grocery store down the street. I’ve been craving peach cobbler today, and I will not deprive my pups.
As I’m walking to the store, I pass a small clothing store. New clothes for the season were just put out, and I saw a cute yellow baby jumper. I stopped and smiled.
I walked in, bought the outfit, then went to the store and bought the peach cobbler from the bakery. I sat outside the store in the little deli chairs provided and savored every bit of the peach cobbler.
When I was done, I went back to the house. Something felt different, though. Immediately, my senses went into full focus. I’m hidden here. I went dark. I did everything I needed to close the gap. I quietly went to the side of the house. I opened a loose brick, where I had hidden a gun when I first moved in.
I quietly walked the perimeter and saw something moving around in my home. I carefully opened the back door and walked in with my gun ready to fire. When I walked into the room, though, I was surprised.
Ronan was sitting on my small couch, taking up room.
“What the fuck are you doing in my home?” I growled.
“Is that any way to treat a guest, Sinner?”
I turned around, and Candy was coming out of the bathroom and down the hall.
“What the fuck do the two of you want?” I snarled, gun still pointed towards them.
Ronan stood up slowly. “Candy is a hunter in training, Sinner.”
