His plump mate (Rebel and Austin) by Buchanan novel Chapter 599

Adrian POV

It’s been four weeks. She vanished. My mate vanished. I’ve been going crazy looking for her. Why did she leave? I don’t know, but the mate bond is still intact. She hasn’t tried rejecting me again.

Maybe she doesn’t know, but it’s my only connection to her. She is too far away to link to, and according to Kaia, she has gone dark. I didn’t understand what that meant until Kaia and Thalia explained that it was deeper than disappearing. It was completely erasing her existence.

I crumbled to my knees. She left me. I didn’t do anything. I held her and left her to sleep while I spoke to Aiden. Everything was fine.

Aiden walked into my office. “Bro, I thought of something. We were so caught up in finding her that we didn’t think to trace her steps.”

I looked at him expectantly. “What did you find?” Why didn’t I think of it?

‘You are hurting, Adrian. We both are. I miss Mali.’

‘I miss our mates, too, Thor. I will find them. I promise.’

Aiden put a laptop in front of me. “Check the surveillance before she left.”

I looked at the screen. First, I walk into Aiden’s office. Then there was nothing for a period of time until I saw Sinclair coming to the door. She was about to knock but stopped. Then she took a step back, put her hand to her mouth, and ran off-screen.

“We were talking about Sinclair and Candy, Adrian. I think she may have heard you say that you didn’t know if you were in love with her,” Aiden theorized.

I think back to that conversation. I did say it and then switched gears. We started talking about Candy. My face paled.

“Fuck!” I said.

“What?”

“I don’t think that is what set her off, brother. I switched gears and asked you what you found on Candy.

You described her as good at tech, skilled in martial arts, and precise with her aim. That sounds like Sinclair. We wanted to use that to our advantage, and I said she would be useful. I bet Sinclair heard that and thought we were talking about her. Right after I said that, I wasn’t sure that I was in love with her,” I said, my mind racing with guilt and regret.

"We never said Candy’s name either. Shit. This is all a misunderstanding, and she didn’t confront us. It sounded pretty damning when you think about what she heard. She clearly didn’t hear the rest of the conversation or anything after. She severed the pack bond because she thought we were just using her. What a fucking cluster,” Aiden said with contrition in his eyes.

Thalia burst through the door. “So you two were talking about Sinclair and Candy, and she heard everything and mistook it for you two saying she was just useful?”

“Mojito, calm down. This is a huge misunderstanding. We are going to find Sinclair and explain everything,” Aiden said, wrapping his arms around Thalia.

“It’s been four weeks, Aiden. Four! Do you know what that amount of time is to a hitman? It’s enough time to find a hiding spot and never be found again!” she cried.

Dread washed over me. “I’m going to find my mate, Thalia. I won’t rest until I do and bring her back.”

My phone rings, and it’s Isaiah. When I answered, Isaiah sounded excited. “Bro, I think Kaia found her. You need to sit down, though.”
