Sinclair POV

I suddenly feel like I’m being rude. “Am I supposed to bow or kneel or something?”

Selene laughed. “No, child. Walk with me.”

We began walking towards the pond, and once we were there, Mali plopped down and lay on her side. I chuckled. She looks very happy and calm.

“Look at the reflection in the pond, Sinclair. Tell me what you see.”

I take a deep breath. I feel like I’m being quizzed. I look out, though, and I see the last couple of months of my life. Not just my life, but everyone else’s that is tied to my life. I see Rebel dragging Adrian by the ear. I see Kaia and Thalia searching for me frantically. Aiden and Adrian driving from town to town to find me. I even see Aric crying on his bed because I left and Poppy trying to console him.

I looked at Selene, and she raised an eyebrow and smiled gently. “Sinclair,” she began, “I wanted you to see what I see. You are loved. You have grown up not knowing what love is or what it feels like, so you have a lot of problems trusting people. I understand why, too. Nor do I fault you. I’m showing you this because while you left, everyone had only one thing in their minds; they wanted to find you.”

I looked back out at the pond, watching each scene play out. Not one person in my life sat idly when I was away. Each person truly worried about me. They were worried because they loved me. My chest cracked wide open at this realization, while my mind was plagued with guilt.

“Sinclair, you have a rough few months ahead. I am showing you this now because I need you to remember this. I am also changing your bloodline. You are no longer an omega. Your blood is now Alpha. Mali will be able to heal you quickly. I have also healed your body, so you will not be hurting when you wake up.”

“Me? An alpha?” I asked, not knowing how to take this gift. “You think I’m worthy of being an alpha?”

“You are worthy of more. You will understand in the future. I’m also bestowing you a gift. Your gift will help Thalia, my chosen one, tip the scales to win the war, if used correctly.”

“Wait, so I could mess it up?”

She chuckled. “I wouldn’t give you the gift or change your bloodline if I believed you would use it incorrectly, child.”

I smiled. Duh. I mean, she sees everything, right? Suddenly, I feel a little more confident. “What is this gift?”

“You have always been drawn to technology. I created you that way on purpose. You will know what threats are around you and how to dismantle them. You are going to be my chosen guardian for all the packs that share in the blood pact.”

My eyes widened. “Me?”

“There is no one more worthy than you. Thalia is my chosen one to win the war and restore order. You are my chosen one to maintain that order. Kaia is my chosen one to grow and develop all the regions. You three are soul sisters. A common thread binds you, and that is the love of your mates. They are the glue that will keep you three together.”

For some reason, this makes me so incredibly happy. “Am I allowed to tell them?”

Selene laughed. “I expect you to tell them, child.”

“How do I help tip the scales?”

“That part is unclear…for now. Right now, however, it is time for you to go back. You have been gone for a couple of days in the living world. Your mate is about to break.”

“A couple of days? It’s only been a couple of hours here?”

“Time is different between worlds, child. Remember that; it will help you.”

She hugged me, and then Mali followed me through the lighted path the Moon Goddess told me to follow. Before I walked through completely, I turned around and looked at her one last time.
