The time has come. Last night with Adrian was amazing. We couldn’t keep our hands off each other. Mali and Thor also couldn’t stop marking us. It was like they needed to leave their imprint on each other too.

Adrian kept repeating that he can’t wait to burn the birth control pills, which I found amusing. Whenever I would laugh, he would take me again. He claimed me and told me that he is getting in as much practice as needed.

By the time we fell asleep, our scents were completely mixed. Even in the middle of the night, my body reached for his. I don’t think I’ve ever been this needy. Mali has definitely never been this needy, and I already know we are going to have a rough time away from our mates.

That makes this next part the hardest. I know what we need to do. It’s going to be painful. It has to be done to sell our story, though. I’m showered, dressed, and Adrian and I ate breakfast in our room. Now it’s time to leave, and I can’t go without seeing Phoenix and Irene.

When I held them, I started crying. Adrian held me from behind to steady me. I nursed both of them, and then, after changing them, I gave them both a kiss and laid them back down in the crib.

I turned and buried my face into Adrian’s chest as I sobbed. “I’m not going to play the hero, Adrian. Swear to me that if something happens, you will protect them.”

“Baby, you know that I will. You are coming back, though.”

I sniffled and nodded. We grabbed my bags and set them at the front door. Then we went to the dining hall. We had already eaten, but the omegas packed food for me, and I was going to put it in my duffel bag before leaving.

Mom, Dad, Aiden, Thalia, Rory, Jonah, and Adrian are all looking at me. Thalia is the only one holding my hand, understanding what I’m about to do. This is mission-critical. It’s time. We all know it. I grabbed the food the omegas brought me and put it in my duffel bag as planned.

I turned and hugged everyone. “Aiden, you know I am going to have to accept Julian as my alpha,” I said.

“I understand. Just understand, you are my beta. You are my sister. You are coming back. Then you are accepting me again.”

“And me!” Thalia said.

“Absolutely. I will be communicating with Adrian. He will give you the updates.”

Rory moved forward. “You have to be either the bravest or craziest woman I’ve ever met. Don’t stay away for long. We have to kick everyone’s ass together.”

I chuckled. “I wouldn’t miss it.”

I turned to Mom and Dad. Mom was crying. “You better be careful.”

“I promise I will be, Mom.”
